Can anyone help me with this?

When I bought my Tacoma, I noticed later that it didn't have a header rail on the bed.

I want to know are the 3rd gen and the 2nd gen the same width and everything? I found a 3rd gen wrecked and thought I would pick-a-part if you know what I mean?

Are you talking about the top edge of the bed closest to the cab? If so, 2nd and 3rd gen both come from the factory bare.

If you're trying to seal a shell you need a thicker gasket up front.

If you want a cover to match the bedsides, you'll have to DIY.

No I just want that header rail with the cleets that you screw hooks into for tie down purposes.
Thanks for you help though and sorry if I wasn't clear enough, but I think I understand that they didn't come with the rail closest to the cab RIGHT?
    Thanks Brian

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
2nd gens came with those, 3rd gens do not.

Folks with 3rd gens who want that add the 2nd gen part.
