I just went to the Harmon website and e-mailed them through the contact page. They asked which dealer I was working with and they contacted the dealership themselves.

Even though there is this problem I wish I had picked up that option! I wonder if its an arm and a leg to get that installed...probably.

I thought on 1/08 the incentives would be better, they dropped the finance rate & increased the rebate to $500.00, not sure if that is better or not.

Finally, have my new amp. Issue is resolved. What a headache though. My local dealer Towne Toyota was so inept that after 1 month they still could not get an amp ordered for me, much less get a call back from them, the dealer I bought the truck from out of state wanted nothing to do with it, JBL did not answer my email inquiries for assistance.
Lucky for me Condit Toyota in Newton NJ took a listen, ordered the amp right away and I was fixed up in 5 days. I highly reccomend them for any one in the area...

Didn't Toyota help? I had a issue with the military rebate, i contacted both Toyota customer service & Toytota Financial, both helped me. So i was wondering if you sought assistance from Toyota & what they said.

Toyota national customer service issued me a case #, and called my local dealer (unfortunately Towne Toyota) to make contact with me to handle the issue. The dealer did not take it seriously, I suspect because there was no money to be made by doing so, it was just a simple swap of an amp so they ignored me, hoping I would go away.
I'm not that surprised by this particular dealer though, I've had contact with their service dept perhaps 3 times in 10 yrs, and each time was a problem or rip off of some sort.

It's not recall worthy as it doesn't affect your ability to continue breathing (it won't kill you)... sounds to be TSB worthy... a few 09 people have talked of their stereos having issues.. but it's definitely not all people...

Fortunately, my only issue was the amp, but I have a double cab with the 7 speaker JBL system

Has anyone dealt with San Diego area dealers on this issue? I recently played MP3 discs and it sounds like the woofer is completely blown out. When I switch to satellite and play something with lots of bass, it sounds great. If anyone knows of an area dealer that's aware of this problem, please let me know.

Go to your dealer, demonstrate the problem, and ask them to order you a new amp under JBL's exchange program. Its a known issue so no dealer should give you an issue.

Does anyone have a link to the JBL exchange program?

My system doesn't seem to have the problems you're describing, however my subwoofer just plainly sucks, its almost like its blown (doesn't play very much at lower volumes) and its probably the muddiest subwoofer I've ever heard. Its not a super big deal to me, it still performs fairly well, but I was curious.

*I HATE THE LOW PASS ON THE REAR SPEAKERS THOUGH. So we are for sure that the low pass is in the amplifier and not the deck? I'm replacing my deck as soon as my scosche kit arrives.

On a sidenote. I replaced the back speakers with my JL 6.5" speakers, and I think that going from the 2.6Ohm to a 4ohm speaker improved the performance of the amplifier, bass hits alot harder overall, and for once my mirror doesn't stop shaking lol.

So I have the 09 DC Sport with the JBL as well. I have to say I'm sorry to hear folks are having problems with their JBL rigs. I know a thing or two about car audio, and my '84 Firebird is a rolling stereo with a 1000W RMS XTANT Sub amp, 600W RMS main amp, Boston Acoustics rig all the way around, and a 230A alternator to keep everything from sucking power out of nearby cars.

I wanted to get the JBL package in my new Taco for a few reasons, the least of which was the bluetooth controls built in to the steering wheel. I also didn't want to spend a bunch of money upgrading the stereo right off the bat, and figured I'd get into that part later. So I opted for the 'premium' factory stereo option. I have to say that overall, the sound of the JBL package in my truck is pretty darn good for a 'factory' system. The bass can get a little garbled at high volume levels, but overall, it sounds pretty good and I have had no issues with static or interference. I hope someone comes up with a solid answer to those that are having problems... sorry you guys are gettin BS from Toyota..

Is this issue only in the 2009? I'm not too happy with the sound in my '08 either. It's certainly not a tight sound from this sub.

I had my amp replaced on my 09 DC w/ JBL system and the system has sounded fantastic ever since.

Paper speakers cones, tiny amps made outta tin, subwoofer that looks to be a 6.5, etc, etc........ Toyota should be giving out rebates when there's no options except trucks with JBL on the lot. CHEAP CRAP!!!
I bought my truck for about 2,000 below invoice. The only reason I wanted that particular truck was it was the last 2008 with the TRD offroad pkg. It just happened to have the factory tow and JBL system in it. It also had post production POS dvd headrest system in it the sales manager wanted some ridiculous amount for. I made them replace the original headrests before I bought it.
So I'm glad I did not pay for the "premium" sound system cause I've got a real premium sound system ready to be installed just as soon as Marv finishes my sub box/amp deck.
Obviously, Toyota has no end of ignorant people payng for the P.O.S.
JBL system and I feel sorry for those who end up disappointed.

Well I guess I qualify as one of the ignorant people buying the P.O.S. Don't really appreciate having my nose rubbed in it though. Don't even have the truck yet.
