Even if they answer you, they will just contact your dealer of choice for you and send the new amp to the dealer.

I actually put the name of the dealership in the email. I'm wondering if they're just going to contact them first and then have the dealership contact me.

I'll give them a few more days. If I don't hear anything, I'll probably just go to the dealer. Like I said before, I just don't there to be any probs. Even by bringing in posts from this thread, it seems like people with 09s are getting their amps replaced.

    I don't believe I've read about 08's getting replaced.

I took my truck in today for the same issue and the service rep mentioned a TSB was out. He didn't even bother to listen to the radio, he just ordered the parts.

When I last spoke with my dealer rep, (10 days ago) he said Toyota was aware of the issue.

I have had the same exact problem with the "blowing in the Mic" sound with the rear speakers. I have also experienced a static sound coming from the rear side speakers. I took it to the dealer (Elk Grove Toyota in Cali) and the could not "replicate the problem". But of course the didn't tell me this until closing, so went back again the next week, and the service writer said it was a vibration issue and he could not fix it..it was my responsibility. So I got a little agitated and went over there and had the service tech listen and he realized it was a real problem. Supposedly, they are going to call today and see what the next step is. I left a copy of some posts from here stating what they have to do..spelled out for them. Hopefully by holding their hand I can get the new amp installed.

Also on a different note, the same service writer and dealership will not do the TSB for my truck until it is a posted 2009 TSB, I even called the Toyota Service Number and complained and they said they can't do anything unless the dealership says it is malfunctioning. I have been emensly disappointed in Toyota Customer service. I was hoping to get it taken care of before I lifted it but I don't think that will happen.

Good luck to others with these same problems and if you live in the Sacramento Area DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO ELK GROVE TOYOTA to resolve these issues.

Do you have the name of the rep or at least the dealership, location and all? I want to use this as a reference when I take mine in.

My service advisor was Darrel Greer. They replaced part number 86150-04040 (sub-speaker). They state the cause as internal electrical failure. It doesn't get the inteference noise anymore. Sounds a lot better than before, but I will still probably put in aftermarket sub. So much room, with so much potential, and just so-so bass.

Thanks for the response. This is interesting. Others on here have had their amps replaced for that "blowing in the mic" sound. You only had your sub replaced?

I believe the subwoofer and the amp come together as an assembly. The part cost is eover $500 so I doubt that was just tehe speaker. Here is a link to the sub setup.

I have not seen this posted yet so here is the TSB. Taking mine in on Monday to see if I can get it replace. The dealer still looked at me like I was crazy even after I told him about the TSB.

Thank you kindly for the TSB.
It should make it a lot easier dealing with the dealer.
Thanks to everyone that did the dirty work to get Toyota to realize the part was bad!!

Thanks for posting that TSB TacoErnie.

Admin, can you make that TSB a sticky? It will save a ton of greif on the part of 09 owners when going to their dealer for the new amp.

I had this happen tonight on the iPod input. Standard "blowing into a microphone" sound.

Since the TSB says .5 for labor, that means 30 minutes right? What are the chances I could pop by the dealer, have him take a listen and order the parts. Then drop in for an hour or so while they make the exchange?

Chances are good, once I found a dealer who did not give me a hard time, I waited at the dealer for about 45 mins, and done.

Sweet! Thanks so much for posting. I've started having problems with my sub lately. I have to turn the bass control down to -4 on anything with moderate bass to keep it from distorting... It sounds terrible.
