'09 Tacoma quad cab long bed 4wd, about 122K, I bought it with 64K on it. About 4K miles ago I replaced the plugs. Denso K20-HR-U11 were in it, (very worn, may have been OEM??), I replaced them with Autolite APP 5325 plugs. I also cleaned the mass airflow sensor. The truck ran fine afterwards.
A couple thousand miles later I had an instance where after driving the truck about 10 miles and shutting it off, it would not start. It had power and the motor turned over. A couple times it started but sputtered badly and died. After about 12 tries, it started and it ran fine.

Today, about another 1K miles later it did it again. Wouldn't start, then would but sputtered and died, and after about 7 tries, it starts and runs fine. When it won't start and you leave the key in the acc position for a moment, the check engine light, battery light and :A/T oil temp" light is lit. I replaced the battery last month and all connections are good.

Any idea what the problem may be? I've seen some mention of the fuel pump inside the gas tank? Any other thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks

This is a small piece of info that might help with your trouble shooting. I learned that the fuel pump in our trucks doesn't run until the starter is engaged. Lots of other vehicles I have owned run the fuel pump when the key is switched to the on position. You can hear it running to help confirm it is working. Before I knew that, I was trouble shooting my truck that wouldn't start and didn't hear the pump run with the key on. I mistakenly assumed the pump was shot. Tough lesson. Good luck!
