Yeah, my 09 got hit pretty good while it was parked. Don't know if it might actually get totaled.....that would really suck. It's at the bodyshop already, just waiting on the estimate from my insurance.

I can't tell yet. The bed is made of composite and it cracked. I don't know if it bent the chasis either.

That sucks! I can't imagine living in a city that large and not having even a single person step forward as a witness! Hell, here in Vermont if you tried to drive off after causing that much damage half a dozen locals would either take photos of the offender, follow them while calling the cops, or hold them at gunpoint till the owner or cops showed up.

Jeez, what a crazy, impersonal place some folks live in!

The chassis runs along the mid section of the bed, seeing as how you got hit in the left rear corner I doubt there will be damage to your frame.

Sweet! I'm planning to drive through VT on my way home from Eastern Canada next summer. That's how it should be!

To the OP: good luck with the repairs, that's quite the hit your truck took!

Damn! Were you in a parking lot or parked on the street? They must have been moving pretty quick to bang it up that bad.

This exact thing happened to an 07 that belongs to my dad. Week before Christmas, some dumb bimbo rear ended it while the truck was parked on the side of a non-devided residential street. . It's getting repaired and it should be in my hands at the end of next week.

It actually buckled the frame just ahead of the driver side rear most leaf shackle.

Truck has 48k miles on it. My dad figured it would be written off by the insurance company so he went out and bought an 09 the very next day.

2 days later at shop the adjuster came in with an estimate of 11k dollars to repair. It's going over that by a fair bit because the truck is at Toyota right now getting a new transmission. Guess the drive line as it was pushed forward(while the frame buckled) managed to jar the transmission hard enough that it could not shift out of gear.

So a used but certified tranny is going in, supposedly 16k on the tranny with a 2 year warranty.

I was joking around with my dad about the paint. Almost got a complete paint job out of the wreck. The front was damaged a tad because the rear end collision pushed his truck into a parked car in front of him. The bed pushed forward slightly into the cab.

All told, I think maybe 1 fender and 2 doors are not getting repainted. It's a shame cause this truck is that silver streak while his new truck is that dark metallic gun metal. I'd love to have had the truck painted out for the darker gun metal.

    People suck!
In the apt complex I live in some chick backed her integra directly into a 1st gen Tundra and my gf and I both saw it happen. Apparently no damage but she wasn't even going to leave a note. I got her plate and gave it to the guy whos truck she hit. WTF is wrong with people being accountable for themselves? Is it ok to just f&*k up someones property and get out of dodge?

In the case of my dad's truck, wasn't a hit and run. He got all her information.

Turns out, her insurance expired about 6 days before the accident because of non-payment.

I am trying to get my dad to go back to the local police department to see if they will now cite her for driving without insurance. They took a report and it should be a simple matter of getting her where it counts.

People, CARRY UNINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE! It's bad enough that people drive on expired licenses like crazy in California, do you really think they are getting insurance when they drive without a license?

I work in LE and can literally tow cars all day long for revoked/suspended licenses, used to have a car impounded within 10 minutes of coming on shift nearly every day of the week when I worked a certain area of town.

They are out there, only a matter of time before you encounter one.

Too bad dude. Parking lots suck, but the other people driving in them suck more. My truck was damaged in a parking lot over the holidays, I lucked out and only had to replace a tail light. You must have a huge case of parking lot rage! Until recently I didn't even know such rage existed! Good luck with your repairs or replacement. I hope you can track down the scum who did you damage and get some!
