    Hey everyone,

Could someone do me a favour and advise me what the owners manual states in regards to how long you should wait before towing? I've done some searches and the info seems mixed. Some say don't worry at all, some say 500 miles, some say 1,000 miles, others say it depends on the tranny, etc. I will be following the break in procedures per the owers manual.

Specifically, I'm asking about an 09 Double Cab Auto TRD with the tow package. I've already put a deposit down on a truck but it's been delayed a little bit due to the production cuts. Just want to make sure that I'll have enough miles on the truck to do a proper break in before it gets into fishing season when I'll be towing my boat. If I can't, I may try and get the dealer to find me a truck currently in inventory somewhere else. My boat is probably only around 1,500 pounds in total so it's not exactly a huge load anyway.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

I dont think it will matter much in the long run. My dad once leased a '91 Dakota, brought it home, hooked up a 4x8 trailer full of firewood, and drove 4 hours to our property in the same day - with like 70 miles on the odometer! Last I knew of that truck, it had 198000 miles on the original engine & trans with no quit in sight. Since your truck is newer and on average more dependable and your boat is light, I'm sure you'll be fine!

i got an 09 back in August and i was towing with it within 500 miles. Mine is a 6 speed though. I wouldn't worry about it since your boat isn't very heavy.

Owner's manual for my 2008 DC Auto says not to tow for the first 500 miles. I would imagine that's the same for an 09.
