09 Tacoma with dipstick

I looked into having the auto transmission fluid changed. I have heard that these cars (2009) have sealed trannys..Guess what...mine does have a dipstick and changing the fluid was done the old fashioned way...Is it odd that my 2.7 auto has a dipstick? Mine does not have a sealed tranny I wonder why!

It's very convenient...It is just a regular transmission dip stick like on on any old car...Like what is on my jeep xj. I took the car in to an non-dealer toyota/honda mechanic and he said "look here, you do not have a sealed transmission." Does not need WS fluid...takes toyota ATF 4

 

All the 1st and 2nd gen 2.7 autos have dip sticks. IIRC they ended with the 3rd gens.

The 2.7s have a dipstick because they still use the A340 transmission carried over from the 1st gen trucks, the 4.0L trucks have the A750 transmission which has no dipstick.
