So I put the morimoto kit in for HID's and everything was finally working....even this morning, now, the driver's side upper portion of the LED DRL is out.

thoughts? I checked fuses, not sure where the wiring goes into that DRL, no wiring was messed with anywhere around there.

Why do people even bother with any after market lights (inside or outside)? All these people having issues after messing around with the OEM setup.

Take the HID kit out and replace it with the OEM halogen bulb. If the DRL is still half lit take it to the dealership and get them to order you a new headlight. I doubt I need to say this but do not tell the dealership about the HID kit. I doubt it has anything to do with the DRL failure though.

yep that's going to be the plan, unfortunately, there's nothing connecting this kit to the DRL nor any wiring messed with from factory

It was help. If you don't want lighting or electrical issues don't mess with the stock set up.

The LEDs burned out. Don't know if they are replaceable but I strongly doubt that it has anything to do with wiring or the headlight bulbs.

The ballast was added to the circuit which does make a difference but I don't think it could have affected the DRL's. You can check the back of the housing to see if the DRL's have replaceable bulb like stems with LEDs on the end but I doubt this is how they did it. My guess is there is a pcb with LEDs soldered onto it within the housing. If that is the case the entire headlight will have to be replaced because I have never heard of a dealership busting open a headlight.

If they end up replacing it I would try to keep the busted one. Could use for parts or for practice doing the black headlight mod.

the DRL is on a separate circuit from the headlight, but in any case, factory bulbs put back in, will call dealership for appointment and see how it goes. I bet they'll need to ship the headlight back to toyota for warranty but also might look suspicious asking for it back and I have no plans to open the headlight for customizing.

I am betting on the kit/install, if you don't think it is related why not just leave them in then? Oh that's right, you are worried they wont warranty it then. Must be 100% Toyota's fault, I have not seen any other people post that 1/2 their leds went out. How have they been working fine even this morning and you knew exactly when they went out? Its not like they provide such a bright light that you would notice, especially while driving during the day time because they were working this morning you said. You always physically get out and check every time you start you're rig?

Did you do a BHLM or whatever that is called where you take the light apart to paint the inside black?

HIDs are just ballasts and a bulb... whether they come factory or not doesn't make a difference.

HIDs in non projector housings = ricer
    Temps over 6000k = ricer

The fact that they are plug and play? Irrelevant.

Agreed but thats not the case here... there is nothing ricer about putting sub 6000k pnp HIDs in a projector housing that came with halogens from the factory.

I'll admit there is possible validity to that but check this out.

3rd gen with morimoto H11B HIDs. Cutoff looks pretty solid to me.
