I just want to lift it no more than 1.5" more and I'm very happy with my ishocks and i don't want to replace them. thats why I think a body lift would be perfect.

I had a BL on my last truck with no issues... My steering wheel bumped around some, but I think it was due to the 35s not balancing correctly

I realize this thread is kinda dead, but hey I found it on google when searching through lifts and tires for the tacoma and found it, so obviously people can still find it....

My .02 is that on my last truck - F150 FX4 - I had a performance accessories 3" body lift in addition to a fat bob's 3" level kit and Pro Comp 2" AALs. I ran 315/70R17 BFGs, then 35x1250R17 Cooper STTs... Never had a single issue. I offroaded the mess out of that truck, but always wanted a tacoma because stock my new tacoma was within an inch of my lifted f150.... I never tore a CV boot until I got in an accident and I'm pretty sure the shop tore it. They replaced it with a different brand and that tore, and a few months later that one tore again... The stock CVs with the sharp edged boots never tore until the accident, but the replacement boots that had rounded, soft edges tore - poor quality.

Here is my old truck playing around:

    and some backwoods drifting :)

    And some pics:

Note the "Fuel Efficient Vehicle Parking Only" Sign.... Hey, I had a 5.4 that took straight up E-85, so technically I could travel in the HOV Lanes with just me in the truck since they allow alt fuel vehicles in there too... and frankly, the sign just pissed me off

And because is TW, here is my new ride :)

Did anyone ever get a 1" or 1.5" BL? I just put the 3" old man emu with 885X coils and aal in the rear along with LR UCAs on my truck, thinking about getting a BL to eliminate tire rub and have some more lift. I contacted Roger Brown waiting on an email back. Also, is a BL hard to install? I have access to a full garage on base. That's where I installed my OME lift and UCAs by myself.

Yea I've done two so far, a 1 and a 1.5. Both were cake to put on. You will need a few new bolts, I believe for the bed and a few for the cab.. Just look under your truck where the bolts come through the body mounts and add a 1 or 2 to the size of the new bolts. Roger uses high quality products, good stuff. As far as your bumper goes. A one inch will be fine with a stock bumper, the plastic will stretch. But the 1.5 I did you will need brackets, I ended up putting a winch bumper on at the same time and had the winch bumper brackets moded for a 1.5 BL. Also steering yoke is kinda sketchy on the 1.5 inch, I kept the stock one for 50k miles but I'd advise to find a longer one.
    Hope this helps.

I emailed RB and he sent me this link to the chart http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/ToyotaTacoma.shtml#Tacoma3 . He said go with the Typical Kit Combo then whatever size I want. Only want to do 1". So the 1" says its the D1 + RAD. D1 = Kit B + hardware. RAD = the radiator drop brackets. Kit B = Ultimate Lift Blocks.

Then it goes on to say this about the hardware:
    The C1 and D1 kits will include 2 - 3/8"and 4 - 1/2" bolts and nuts for the cab
    • We have reports that the 6 factory bed bolts are long enough to accommodate a 1" body (bed) lift, so need not be replaced at that lift height and thus hardware for the bed is not included in this 1" body lift hardware kit.
    • You may need to re-use one pair of the stock cab mount bolts for the rear bed bolts as sometimes two of the stock bed bolts are a bit short for a 1" lift.

A 1" to 1.5" BL seems like it might be worth it to me. When I ran my f150 with a 3" BL too much frame showed. I loved not having the running boards on there but with the BL it hid the frame realt well and it looked terrible without them on. I found a couple photos on google images of some tacos with what looks like 3" BLs, and I think you'd need to have a running board to hide the frame. I love the height but I can't stand to see the frame. I would love to see more photos of a 1" or 1.5". To me a 3" suspension lft is not enough, and 6" makes it look like a tonka truck, but every time I see a truck and I say "that's what I want!" It's ALWAYS a 4" lift (usually spindle lifts too since nobody seems to make a 4" drop bracket 4x4 suspension lift that's affordable)

I contacted roger a little while back and here shortly I'm ordering a 1 inch bl. Once I get it and find some time I'll take some pics of the install and try writing up a DIY if people are interested.

Im in the middle of a 1.5" bl on my 13 tacoma.
So far, I am glad this tacoma is not my only daily. Mostly because the kit I ordered from 4crawler is not exactly 100% compatible. I had to source metric bolts as the bed has the nuts welded to frame. 2nd, the steering shaft extension had to be modified, bolt patter on truck is larger than the 2011 and previous model, as well as the center shaft. 3rd I have had to make costume rear bumper brackets to raise the rear bumper up the 1.5"

Right now im still waiting on the metric bolts to come in, and I have finished the drawing for modifying the steering spacer. Should have that machined tomorrow. once the bolts come in I will be able to pull the truck out of the garage and tackle the rear bumper. It really has not been that involved, I just have not had a whole lot of time to dedicate.

Update: Finished modifying the steering shaft puck, and bolts have come in. Should finish up this weekend and will post fir you all

I had a 1.5" body lift with a Toytec 3", the body lift was awesome and a very simple install. I just bought a 2014 access cab and I am going to do the same thing... not spending about $2K for a 4"-5" lift!

    Here is a pic of my 2003 w/1.5" BL & 3" Toytec

I think the factory skid plate in the front would help hide the gap in the front:

    tacomaskidplate_zpsf9b4bcd9_e05519f7aeb08c9d5e8165efe66e15fe54b64a4d.gif

And nerf bars on the side hide the frame there...

    tacomanerf_zpsb0418e7d_44e1a451ad803c708c70dd52403759ed3e0993fd.jpg

I think with the 3" coils, 1.5" BL, skid plate and nerfs you still come in under a grand and have a 4.5" lift for a lot less $$$$$
