5-lugger here. So I'm gonna go ahead and buy Daystar's 1" body lift kit sometime in the next couple weeks and I just had a quick question. I'm still doing research but I thought I'd ask here anyway. I've read that some people had to buy steering shaft extensions and possibly other things to compensate for their body lifts. If I'm only going up 1", would I also need to buy that same stuff? Different stuff? Hopefully no extra stuff at all?

Body lift is a fair amount of work. Have you looked at FatBob's suspension lift for five lugs?

Just checked it out. I have the 1.5" spacers installed already and it looks like the other option for front lift on FatBob's are the 3" lift spindles. I'm just not looking for such a drastic (to me) lift.

Looks to me like I won't need a steering shaft extension with just a 1" BL. Can anyone confirm?

N that's the only mod someone would need to make with a body lift right? Everything else should be ok?

The other issue might be the radiator/shroud. These 1" kits should come with adapters to lower the radiator 1". Otherwise the shroud will impact the fan. Without the adapters, removing (or modifying) the shroud is an option, but that could lead to overheating.

Body lifts in general are pretty meh IMO. They can incur a whole handful of other issues, especially on older vehicles. Granted 1 inch is tame and mostly harmless, I would look into more suspension lift. There are a handful of options and they price at roughly the same. I put a 3 inch body lift on my first vehicle (88 pickup) and regretted it every day I'd owned it afterwards.

If you're sold on the body lift, there isn't much a 1 inch body lift could mess up in theory and you shouldn't need to adjust much except maybe the radiator like tan said. But as one finally warning, just consider what you're actually doing with a body lift. You're separating a handful of old wires and tubes that are in places you didn't even know existed on your truck. Good luck!
