I'm still thinking the kitchen box is the best spot. A little tight in there but the electrical is easy, the thermostat is easy, the ducting is easy...it just kind of all adds up to being the best spot. I don't love the intake and exhaust routing options in that spot but overall it's not likely a big deal.

Just ordered my Propex HS2000 heater. I was not excited to spend the money but it's such a critical part to "finish" the camper. It was out of stock for at least a month. Gotta jump on this stuff when it's available to avoid longer delays in the spring/summer when everyone is actually working on their rigs!

If all goes to plan, I'll be selling my flatbed this year. :D Way cheaper than buying a new one too! Because, well, it ain't new and it's got four big holes in it. :notsure:

How difficult will it be to mount the camper box directly to the frame?

I don't think it'll be a big deal at all. I'm just making a small subframe that mounts to the truck frame. The camper will drop down on top of that using the same body mounts on already using. The hardest part will be how efficiently I can remove the camper and re mount it. I don't want to have to do it several times to get it right.

Finally did some real measuring and math today. I'll be able to lower the camper 3.125". Doesn't sound like a lot but that's huge in my book! Now I can start laying out the frame mount locations and start the CAD development. The key is to get it as light as possible but as strong as necessary. Since I won't be running any simulations or anything like that, I'll just guess.

Having these dimensions helps me plan my front upper aero solution, new rock rails, fenders, storage, new entrance ladder, propane, heater intake and exhaust routing, potential water tank...all kinds of stuff! Who knew removing a flatbed from the equation would have so many ripple effects. :D

Oh, and UPS says my heater should be here on Saturday.

Interested in which dealer you got to place your order from!? Seems like they are all sold out again. At least their websites say they are.

Van Cafe is where I got mine. They get a shipment in and they're gone very quickly. But, on their website, you can sign up to be notified when they're back in stock. Once you get the email, order it right then. Don't think...just order.

I don’t miss those machines. Spent way too much time hunched over one back in my auto upholstery days. :(

It’s been so long. I’d probably sew my fingers together if I tried it nowadays.

Picked up a few bits to get my sew on.

    PXL_20210228_003725800.jpg
Now I've got everything I need to figure out how to use this contraption and practice various types of pockets and whatnot.

This is not going to turn into the sewing thread but the reason I got this was so I could make cool shit for the camper and truck. So it's legit to include here. :D

The elusive HS2000 showed itself today! I'll go into more detail as I get to fitting/fiddling/installing, of course. But that's likely going to be a long process. It does allow me to start really planning out my kitchen box. Knowing for sure if this will fit properly in that spot as well as how much room is needed for ducting and all that will be critical to let me know how much room I get to work with.
