A little mock-up to make sure it all works. I was able to actually latch the door. With enough blue tape, anything is possible! :muscleflexing:

A little bulb seal compression check. Yeah, no. We’ll come back to this later...

A little close up strike plate detail. Those t nuts will be covered. We’ll come back to that later.

It works! It’s even adjusted pretty well. The door closes flush with the wall.

I took a little video of it working but I’m not sure that can be uploaded.

So, back when I was worried about compressing the bulb seal too much, I routed out the back of the door for more clearance. Well, because simple math ain’t so simple, I routed too much off. o_O So, I’ll be using 1/8” plywood epoxied to the camper side door jamb to space out the bulb seal contact point. 1/8” looks to be about right. Bulb seals should be compressed about 40-50% from what I understand. This should get me right in that range. The extra compression will also ensure that the door is always pushed out solidly against the strike plate...eliminating rattle while sealing out the weather. I’m really pumped with where this is at! Still some cleanup and stuff to do but it functions well!

would it be any easier or cheaper to buy bulb seal that is 1/8" thicker? also for the sake of your time too?

Mc master Carr doesn’t have such a thing. But I may see if I can find another source

Actually...I may have not realized what size I bought. I may be able to get bulb seal that’s 1/8” thicker.

Trim lok has an amazing Amazon store with accurate measurements on all their seals, you may try that. Most are backed with a durable 3m tape. I have used a few of their products and when I screwed up my measurements they sent me the proper size for free

Procrastinated heartily this evening...but dragged my butt out to the garage for some work eventually!

    3F822713-4727-4F76-AC96-F3F087255BE9.jpg
Rounded all the edges on the strike plate bracket. Also slightly slotted the mounting holes to the camper so I can have more adjustment to perfectly align everything. Oh, and I cut the button head bolts shorter. I usually don’t care for cutting fasteners but I had these and it needed done.

    2C3BD29D-781B-4E63-8D83-56FBB1AA02A2.jpg
Epoxied in the back of the t nuts per my usual process.

    DF7DA9C5-5650-4150-B75B-2C42540A6DC7.jpg
Did some sanding, edge softening, and divot repair for additional awesomeness. I’ll do some epoxy coating and epoxy fillet work tomorrow. This will be completely done and checked off the list this weekend!

Oh, I found 1” x 1” bulb seal. That will be perfect and give me a good squish percentage.

The plan is to go crazy sanding and fairing the interior of the camper. It’s so cold I can’t reasonably cure epoxy on the exterior but I can have my heater going inside and cure epoxy just fine.

Sanded the whole interior. Then went around and fixed a few issues...re-glassed a seam and filled a few big divots. Then I cleaned it all up and started putting down the fairing compound. This is as far as I got. That’s a lot of time crouched in a small box. My knees and feet are tired!
