Put up my creepy plastic wall at the end of the garage. I’m full on Dexter now!

Then I did some camper work. Faired the back wall and some of the front wall. The front wall is the start of the second layer. That’s where you really start to see things level out. The first layer is good but the second layer is where it’s at. How many layers are necessary is anyone’s guess

More epoxy. You know, the usual.

Finally finished getting fairing compound on this entire side. Feels like good progress.

The latches for my underbed boxes showed up today. They are pretty nice! Inexpensive too. Bonus!

First round of fairing for the roof! Went around the edges of the front wall again too. Feels like stuff is happening! I’m kind of down to the same process every time I work on it: sand, clean, fair. Repeat the next night. The plan right now is to have all of the fairing/sanding done by the end of March so I can start painting April 1. That should give me time to get it done by the end of April...

Glassed up the door recess area on the underbed boxes too. This is important because I need to get the near-final dimensions so I can trim the doors to fit just right. This will also allow me to get the holes drilled for the hinge. Once the doors are cut to size, I can get the latch mounting holes done then glass/paint everything! Happy with the way these are working out so far.

Coat bare wood with epoxy. Let sit for at least an hour.

Then get you glass on, son!

I’m not trying to be a hero here...just glassing the surfaces that are easy to reach. I’ll come back in tomorrow and glass other surfaces. Eventually, it’ll all be covered.

Oh, picked up an Atlas46 Tool Roll XL!

Because of the shape/size of my underbed boxes, there just isn’t room for tool boxes. So, a legit tool roll seemed like it would do the trick. Seems really well made. Hopefully it is!

Sanded the ENTIRE camper today. Inside and out. I’m really tired. But then I got my second wind and touched up several exterior walls.

I also cleaned up the boxes and epoxied another section on both for glassing later tonight.

I’m curious what you think of the tool roll after getting the chance to use it for a while.

I like my hard case craftsman socket set because I know where each socket is, and if something is missing I can see it. I like how portable and compact a tool roll would be, but it could be a mess when you need to find a specific item.. especially if you’re asking someone else to hand you something.

I do have some rubber socket holders though so I guess I’d try those in the pockets.

A little bit of glassing to finish out the evening.

Ideally I’d do more glassing at once but I’m just filling in spaces in time with this so it happens as it’s convenient.

I’ve only had the tools in the roll for one day so I don’t know how its going to work out yet. I would have kept my toolbox if I had the room because I already had the toolbox. Haha. But I don’t have the room and you can’t beat a tool roll for space utilization. I keep my tools really paired down and efficient so there isn’t much in there that isn’t specific to my truck so finding what you need won’t be too big of a deal. I have my sockets broken up into three ziploc bags: large sockets, small sockets and deep sockets...that helps. I also carry one screwdriver handle with a full set of tips...cuts WAY down on clutter. Also, with 5 or so individual pouches, it’s easy to group like tools for easy searching. You could look at the Yorktown tool roll by Atlas46 too...it’s got a few more features like individual slots for wrenches. I actually meant to order that one but somehow didn’t. After packing up my tools in the XL, the stuff that won’t fit wouldn’t have fit in a Yorktown roll either so it was a happy mistake for me.

After using a smaller tool roll on my Trans America Trail motorcycle trip this summer, I think the larger tool roll for the truck will be great. I believe trailside repairs should be done methodically as opposed to quickly anyway. Avoiding injury is really important in the middle of nowhere!

That’s right.. forgot you rode the tat. Probably very efficient at pairing down unnecessary stuff.

Crazy week at work so the camper just sat. Got after it a bit today.

Did a bunch of epoxy work. I’m getting really close to calling the exterior ‘good enough’. REALLY CLOSE.

Did the next round of glass on the boxes too.

    05541FBE-69A5-4EB3-9AC6-9C8F65099CAF.jpg

Oh, I’m also getting sick. Hoping I can keep that to a mild roar and keep on working.

So I did a bunch of sanding and epoxy on the camper but didn’t take any pics. Mostly because they all seem the same now: wall with red crap on it. It’s tedious and tiring and annoying. But, I’m on it and will stay on it.

    I did take one picture:

5AEF0744-0BF2-414F-8558-FF985749AB2A.jpgMore glass on the boxes. I’m slowly working my way around the exterior. Not sure what I’m going to do on the interior. Maybe glass tape the seams then epoxy coat everything else. I don’t think glassing the entire interior is necessary or worth the extra hassle. Heck, may not even need to glass the seams. We’ll see.
