Time for a trip to the powdercoaters! Tonight, I knocked out all of the backer plates for the camper mount blocks. What we have here is:

    Camper mount blocks
    Camper mount backer plates
    Door strike plate mount
Tail rack I made for my Husky 701.

Much of this is aluminum and doesn’t strictly need to be powdercoated but I prefer the look and aluminum does corrode...it just doesn’t rust. Powdercoat will keep it looking good for a long time.

Finished sanding all of the patches on the inside of the camper...and found more patches that needed to be made. Less than before but still a few there. I filled those areas and called it a night. Fingers crossed I can sand those out tomorrow and call the sanding and fairing done! Then it’s a massive garage cleanup before starting the priming.

Word. It’s crazy! I just got done sanding the patches...found two more areas to patch. But, I’m calling it done once those are sanded out tomorrow.

Crossed of exterior fair/sand! And interior fair/sand. Any sanding/fairing left will be minimal and found once the camper is all cleaned up and ready for paint.

Picked up my primer today! They didn’t have my paint(s) in Gallon size so I’ll order those tonight/tomorrow.

The plan is to clean like a madman tomorrow. Pull as much out of the garage as possible, clean the garage and the camper then put everything back in some orderly fashion. Then start priming!

This is the last time you’ll see the camper in it’s mottled red and white procrastination camo.

I spent a lot of the day emptying out the garage and sweeping, vacuuming, blowing, wiping and more sweeping. Then I put it all back together and wiped down the camper exterior.

The plan is to wipe the exterior down again then use a tack cloth then start priming. Hopefully tomorrow night. Depends how work stacks up, I suppose.

It’s funny because it’s not really that big. I’m hoping it, somehow, looks smaller on the truck though. I’m sure it’s just big enough for me to misjudge it and smash it’s upper corners into tree branches.

    Let's hope not.

After all that work, a smashed corner would be depressing. :(

Yeah, I considered that when I started then...didn’t... I could always add it later if I felt it was necessary.

Got the first coat of primer on the exterior! Man, there are SO MANY wonky spots. Easy to see now that it’s all one color! No biggie, I’ll go back and get those handled when I sand this coat in prep for the next. Overall, I’m really excited about this!! Even though I have to fix some stuff up along the way, it’s major progress! Plus, primer is pretty fast to put up since you have to sand between coats and the coats are fairly light. Hopefully the weather is acceptable (humidity, mostly).and hopefully I got the coat on thin enough. That’s critical for most paints. If you go too thick, it won’t cure properly.

It’s also nice that there will be a lot of visual clutter all over the camper with side racks for surf boards, the rear bottom racks will have max trax on them, the passenger side will have an awning. Lots to distract from my barely acceptable paint job.
