Funny, it all happens to be on the market right now! In kit form. Unfinished. Without a frame or wheels.

Also, the camper base isn't a trailer build. It's a slide in camper for the bed. But, that's just a small detail.

Sorry, I meant the camper attached to the bed could be a trailer project for someone else. A Tacoma towing a Tacoma bed with a camper as a trailer. I've always liked how truck bed trailers looked.

For sure! Could even have a sweet swing out bumper with spare tire and water! Seriously, though. It'll be a miracle if I can get all of this stuff off to new owners.

Patience will be key especially for something that will take up so much space while you're waiting for a buyer. You put so much work into it, I'd really hate for it to get scrapped. I'm sure a lot of the guys watching this thread would love to get a chance at it, but money and time and space and all that. Maybe posting a FS thread here and on expo might get you the right exposure once you're ready.

This just happened. UTE flatbed! So, now I really need to get in gear and post some 'for sale' ads. I'll have a Tacoma bed (with cut sides), a custom rear bumper with swingouts (does not work with a tailgate), and my original camper base for sale/trade this weekend. PM if you're interested!

Sounds like a good plan. I started what was suposed to be just a simple 5'x8' enclosed trailer build myself. Just a kitchen in back, toilet, and open storage. Turned into a camper with everything under the sun, including a RTT and solar. They start out simple and blowup from there.

I know you posted it before, but where did you buy your flatbed from? How much did you pay for it? ( if you don't mind me asking).

I'm sticking with simple...I think. But the layout and storage is going to be 50 times better for us! So excited.

I got the UTE ltd flatbed from the US importer/distributer in Burien, WA (where they ship to near Seattle). Google 'UTE ltd' and you'll end up on his site. I paid early which got me a bit of a discount. It was $2491 (or something close to that) out the door...I picked it up in person to avoid shipping costs. The only add on I got was taillights. They happened to have a container in transit when I called about wanting one so my wait was all of two and a half weeks or so. I believe there might have been some sort of sale going on because I saw a discount on my invoice from $2800 or so down to my price.

They were getting ready to install one on what looked to be a really new TRD PRO DC in inferno red when I showed up. That truck has got to look great with the shiny silver flatbed!

UTE, ltd is the supplier. They are Australian but they have a US distributor in the Seattle area.

Bumper sold. Being picked up on the 20th. Still have a bed and a camper base left!

Tearing down the truck today. May start the install too. I'll post pics as I have better progress. Got the bumper pulled off already...taking up more garage space until it gets picked up.

    The big lift!

    Prepping to pull the bed:

    IMG_4930.jpg
All wiring attached to or snaking through the bed. Spaghettiville! Nicely labeled spaghetti since I found out that the backup camera and the license plate lights have the same plug and are interchangeable with negative effects.

    IMG_4931.jpg
    Taillights removed. Bolt, bolt, yank!

    IMG_4934.jpg
A little tape to protect against accidental contact.

    IMG_4938.jpg
Unbolt the filler from the frame and push the neck through the grommet in the filler door. It's really easy.

    IMG_4935.jpg
Completely unloaded All Pro Expo springs means a tall truck! We aired down the tires a ton to gain back a few important inches. Made it easier to lift the bed off and over the back tires.

    IMG_4946.jpg
Set the bed on some sawhorses. Wait for sale and annoy neighbors. Our hillbilly is showing in our nice neighborhood! At least I washed it!

    IMG_4940.jpg
Then you're left with this unholy mess. Sigh.

    IMG_4951.jpg
Kinda fun to drive like this! Would've enjoyed taking it for a cruise around town. But, alas, not going to happen because I'm illegal a dozen different ways here. Haha.

    IMG_4952.jpg
Gave the tail end a bath. LOTS of dirt, rocks and 'gunk' there. Never mind that big red loop. It's part of my venting for my LRA 34 gallon tank. Will be revisiting this to try to get it to fill without burping. Also bolted up my new spare tire hoist. It will be living back under the truck again.

That's it for today! I need to pick up a few things from the hardware store tomorrow to get after the actual flatbed mounting.

    Pumped to get this done!
