I'm just curious as to what you plan on lugging up that to NEED 330lbs of strength....or what do you have some deviant sex thing going on that we don't need to know about?

Maybe make a bracket to attach the ladder to the door? That way it will swing out and up and then you can either slide it out of the bracket or unclip, etc.

That's a real possibility. The lift struts are pretty stout on this box and I could replace them with heavier ones if I needed.

Or you could make a bracket to hang it on the back next to the door and save the space in the box for something that needs to stay clean or dry.

    :notsure:

Yes. Another possibility. I'm not sure how well it will weather the elements.

It's aluminum right? Unless you plan on your truck being a submarine in the Pacific, pretty sure it would be fine. IMO.

It's the hinges and all the non-aluminum small parts I'm worried about. And don't limit what I'm allowed to do with my rig!

Doesn't look awesome but I really only care about it working awesome. Should be able to open the vent in the rain and while driving to keep the camper ventilated.

Also hopped on the install wagon...

Take this useless spot and do something useful with it!
    IMG_20191026_133226.jpg
Off grid battery holder. Tight fit but it all seems to work well. Hopefully it works well with the battery.

I also broke my cardinal rule: No drilling of the truck metal!

    IMG_20191026_145228.jpg
This is a lovely spot to run wires.

This should go here quite nicely

Rubbery bit installed! This seems like a cool thing. You can trim it at a few spots to make the hole bigger for different size wire bundles.

    Getting closer!!

A little fussin' with the camper yesterday. Worked out a quick and dirty way to keep the ladder from flopping around in the box until I can do up a proper solution.

    IMG_20191027_123233.jpg
Stack two smaller washers with a bigger washer on top. Made a little spool, basically.

    IMG_20191027_124058.jpg
A loop of Paracord run through itself around the spool.

    IMG_20191027_124734.jpg
Run a cam strap through the loops and you're good to go. This is not a long term solution but we are trying to go camping this weekend (first trip!!) So I just need something to work for a little while.

I ordered my waterproof cable gland for wiring up the camper box. That should be here Wednesday. And my new Odyssey PC1400T battery should be here tomorrow! I may actually be able to get this dude all wired up by this weekend. That would be HUGE!

    Quick update:

    IMG_20191029_152644.jpg
    IMG_20191029_152649.jpg
It's a tight fit but the battery is in! I used some adhesive backed foam in a few places to tighten things up and hopefully eliminate or reduce some chafing potential on some parts. Time to get going on wiring! It's so cold and windy right now...not so fun to be outside. But I can make my shopping list for cable, and connectors!

    IMG_20191029_153137.jpg
    IMG_20191029_153148.jpg
This nice piece of kit showed up today as well. This will be the waterproof seal for passing power and ground wires into the kitchen box on the camper where a second fuse panel will be. This thing is all aluminum and seems really well built.

Big ass kitchen knife FTW! Not the straightest nor cleanest cut but I don't care. Mattress is cut and ready for duty in the camper!
