Probably just a rant to blow some steam off but I know a lot of you fellow Tacoma owners also have a Rav4's.

My girl finally got her Rav4 Hybrid friday night. These are hard to get allocated and the market is crazy as most of you are aware. We spent the night in the garage waxing and checking over the vehicle. Both of us new to the hybrids.

So, last night after almost 24 hours of ownership and 59 miles on the clock we ventured to the grocery store and try to get a few more break in miles on the new ride.
Parked at far end of the lot, came out of the store after maybe 10-12 minutes and found the new Rav had been side swiped / hit and run. IMG_8775.jpgIMG_8781.jpgIMG_8805.jpg

    Sad day indeed!

Front wheels were turned during impact. Left front wheel marred. Lots of plastic damage. etc.

Looking under the hood most things look okay but Im not an expert. As Im new to the Rav4 are there any parts within the hybrid system or all wheel drive that I should be looking for troubles?

Not really expecting any advice from a few pics but I know many of you are knowledgeable toyota experts or professionals. Any insight or experience will be helpful in making sure this brand new car can be properly repaired.

Police report and insurance claim already in.

    Dang!!!!

^Damn, that sucks. "Luckily" the collision missed the headlight ($$$$) and fender. Looks like you can replace the bumper cover and some supporting plastic brackets and be back to normal.

Remember TW is a place where we cut bumpers and bedsides for fun

Heartbreaking! Did you have to fill out an online.report? At least when they come out you feel like someone cares.
    Once again, that really sucks!

Police came to the scene within 30-45 minutes. Seemed to be empathetic.

I always park far away in a parking lot and always next to an island for this exact reason. People always cutting through parking lots.

Hmm, Good question. I assume it is under our insurance after driving off the lot.

It's been a long time since I bought new, but I vaguely remember that the dealer had it insured for a day or two after purchase because Geico wasn't immediately insuring it.

In most states, and with most insurance companies when you buy a new vehicle, it is implied that you will add it to your insurance policy so even if it’s not in the system yet, it will be put in that retroactively on the day you bought it. i.e. if you have an accident without finalizing things with your insurance company, it is still covered by your insurance

This seems plausible as we had the agency send over documentation to the dealership prior to leaving. Still worth a look and good to have others thoughts in a time of being distressed and scattered. Thanks
