Hey TW, new member here. Been digging through these forums quite a bit and hadn't seen this mentioned specifically so I thought I'd start a thread on it.

I have a '16 access cab long bed, and ultimately am looking to add 275/70/17's. I want to add a little bit of lift too and keep factory rake. I figure with a 1" lift all around I should be able to clear those tires, get a bit of lift, and keep stress on stock suspension components at a minimum.

Don't want to go with blocks/spacers or a body lift.

Curious if anyone has gone a similar route and had suggestions on a good way to get this accomplished.

So, do you want the lift, or do you want to keep your stock suspension components? The only way to keep stock stuff is with blocks and spacers. Otherwise you are looking at bilstein 5100's set to .75" in the front and a small AAL in the rear.

I'm also curious to see if there's a proper suspension lift. You could do 5100s set at 0.85 with stock coils but that may ride a bit rough. You could also probably get away with using OME 883 coils paired with 5100s for a small lift.

I probably should have specified. I know it's going to require either coils/shocks or a combination of both. I'm looking for the option that will provide the best ride quality without requiring additional components like UCA's.

You hit it the nail on the head. If the op is going this route though I'd go with the second position since the lift will settle a little bit.

Also 1" lift probably won't make 275s clear. You'll still need to do some trimming.

A little off topic, but anyone here have a link to a 1"-1.25" front spacer? All I'm finding is a 2"+ and that would be too much.

How much do you want to spend is my next question?

I am willing to take time to put aside the money to get it done properly. So budget at this point isn't really an issue. I plan on driving this truck into the ground over the next 10+ years, so I don't want to cut any corners with whatever mods I do.

Is there any particular reason you want 275s? If you pick an aggressive tire, 265/70r17s look great.

Once you go with a 1" lift, you are going to find it isn't enough. Just like your first time in bed with a model. You'll end up wanting more.

I would sleep on lift for a bit, and decide what/why you want to lift the truck. Is it just for tires, are you going to offroad it, street queen, mall crawler? There are hundreds of different lifts out there, and it depends ultimately on 2 things. What you want to spend, and what you want the truck to do for you.

    Options for small lifts.
    Blocks
    Spacers
Billy 5100's with stock coils set to .85", or the next higher setting and allow for settle. Find a 1" block for the rear. I don't believe there is a 1" AAL.
Tons of lifts that you can adjust from stock height to 3" of lift. Ironman4x4 foam cell pros, toytec adjustables, king, icon, fox all have adjustable where you can adjust on truck.

All of the above do more than a 1" as well, with many you have the ability to go up to 3". Old Man Emus, billys set higher, or billys with a different coil on them. Ironman has a 2" lift.

Lifting by creating preload on the springs is not optimal.

Select the proper springs for the job at hand, then match with proper dampers to control the springs.

Tire and wheel selection can also keep lift required for 'rubbing' at a minimum. Bigger tires and gnarly offsets aren't always the best performers. It really does depend on your use of the vehicle as well as your driving skills.

The best leveling kit I have seen is made by lowrangeoffroad and this kit does not put preload on the spring.
