That's what my friends and I thought too. Maybe he was just a driver.

    Hopefully it'll be awhile. ;)

I agree on moving left or right, I could see if a 2" ball blocked a 3" license plate, but obviously that isn't the case. I don't imagine it makes the state too much money in fines either, but maybe it's a laundry list type violation where it just gets tagged onto legit violations.

This. You'd be surprised what happens when that energy is transferred to the frame.

Rear ended in 2009, lady hit the receiver at about 40mph and there was minimal damage to the bed or rear bumper however... The frame was bowed out 2" on each side and actually creased the right side of the frame. Given the C Channel frame in the 2005+ Tacomas it's worth having looked at.

No question. Do you think frame damage would've been avoided without the receiver taking a hit?

I see too many soccer moms with their license plate 90% obstructed by their bike racks. I wonder if they ever get hassled.

I think it would have been less had the bumper taken the full brunt of the impact. I was running an OME 3" and she was in a Pontiac bonneville or something. The impact was square on the receiver and it was about 1/2 way up her hood before the bumper touched her car.

I'll have to dig up the pics. She hit me and lifted my rear tires off the ground pushing me forward. I saw her in the rear view and put both feet on the brake pedal and stood on it. She hit and launched me forward with so much Fitch the ash tray came loose and ended up in behind the seats. She pushed me into an avalanche which hit another car and pushed that into a jeep Cherokee. I swear I posted it here somewhere.

I accidently backed into the side of my daughters Toyota van and it did $3,800 worth of damage. The towing hitch took most of the impact but I did have to replace a tail light, which only cost me $80 for an after market.

I would prefer to take it out but the potential where I drive for a low speed rear ender is high. I also leave it in to protect trailer light hook up while on hunting ranch. The one I use for my boat rattles on rough roads. My 3-1/2" drop does not so it is the one I leave in. I can also use it with tow strap since there are no tow hooks on the rear of my truck. One reason not leave it in is the fact that they can be shin busters.

A Chevy pickup at work has one of these. A month ago this dude in an Intrepid pulls up behind him to park and taps him. Park-by-feel kind of fellow and no one had hard evidence of the dings he was making in other employee's cars, but many suspected.

Anyways, he taps it, tries to back up and realizes he's a bit stuck... so he gives it some gas. Car came loose but his front bumper didn't LOL

He doesn't work with us anymore

Well, I was trained on Calguns to cite PC/VC and cases

Before I go any further I want to make it clear that I am not anti-police; you guys have a very important and a very difficult job to do which by its very nature creates a lot of conflict.

I believe you know a well as I do that any case against the police by a normal person, rarely goes anywhere.

As an example see Haynie v Pleasanton. Is reimbursement for the bail bondsman really equitable?

There are a lot of great law enforcement out there. Too bad they all suffer when Officers like this can get/keep their jobs ..
