Wanted to get some ideas that might be more up to date on what folks are running on there 1st gen tacomas for Brake setup. I have the two bolt 13/16 master cylinder. Running Tons with disk brakes so going to need an upgrade.
Is there a wilwood type master cylinder that would work, is it better to get a different brake booster with 4 bolt to adapter to just use the old style chevy master. What booster works best and what i needed to adapt to truck like at the fire wall and brake pedal.
    Let me know your thoughts.

Yeah has plenty work left including a better paint job. While i wait for the new transfer case I figure i would get these brakes under control. I have never posted it on the gram so i am surprised its out there.

Hmmm. Maybe wrong truck then. Had family pics too. I swear it looks identical. Same cuts for the tires and bobbed bed too.

Try a non-abs t100 dual diaphragm booster with 1.07" master cylinder. A few guys i know running that combo on all around rotor seemed to like it.

Close but not mine. super clean

So I was reading about using the T100 booster. Is there any big issues attaching to the brake pedal?
Would it be worth running the larger master with that booster. I see they offered a 1 5/8" master cylinder for the T100 that i can pickup from rockauto.

I'm not aware of a 1-5/8" MC for t100, the largest bore I was able to find is a 1.07" for the 4 mounting hole. Attaching the dual diaphragm to the firewall create a slight gap at the lower 2 mounting stud, I end up cutting ~1/4" of neoprene paper gasket to fit the 4 mounting stud and tighten it down. The gap was filled by the neoprene gasket, making it somewhat air tight in my opinion. I cut the stud on the booster going to the brake pedal assembly down a bit, because it was hitting the pedal assembly. You must remove the lower bracket assembly and run without it. Last, you'll adjust your stoplight switch to make contact with the pedal.

    Nothing major to mess with.

I ordered a couple T100 masters if you want to buy one - going with a first gen Sequoia mc with an adapter or if a sequoia booster fits which would be cool. Reportedly a land cruiser mc may bolt up to the dual booster trucks as well.

That might work, I am doing a bit more research but shoot me a message and lets see if we can figure something out.

Yeah i built a 4runner about 10 years ago and used the GM 1 ton master that works pretty well. Given this Tacoma has a two hole booster the adapter does not work so I am researching options. This started me down the rabbit hole of options including changing the booster. I guess the questions i am still wondering is how does the T100 1ton MC compare to the Chevy 1ton MC, I believe the Chevy is 1 1/8 bore so not a huge difference but maybe needed. Is there a double diaphragm Tacoma booster that folks have used.
I don't mind brake line modification or firewall but i would like to avoid major modifications between the pedal and booster.
    Thanks for all the conversation.

So going from your 01-04 (ABS I believe) setup to the dual diaphragm booster is easier than going the other way around - here's a write up that did that. Note for the author, the smaller mc and single diaphragm booster was better but that's only because they are usually said to feel better with stock rear brakes and the 1st gen Tundra brakes upgrade. @malburg114 also did the same booster swap for the GM MC w/ an adapter I believe.

Switch boosters to fit the gm adapter and use an 1 1/8 or 1 1/16 gm master and be done with it. Everything else won’t be suffiecnet to push 3/4 ton or bigger calipers without a ton of pedal travel

I'm running into this same issue with a 2002 project I'm building. I can't find any significant info about anything for a two bolt Tacoma booster and a MC that works with it. I'd prefer not to spend more money and time swapping to a 4 bolt booster plus an adapter to convert back to a 2 bolt GM MC. But I haven't found anything in my searches where someone was able to just bolt a 2 bolt MC to a 2 bolt Tacoma booster and make it work.

I went from a 2 bolt booster to a 4 bolt and then the adapter and a checy master. More research and I’ve realized there’s more than a few guys who just wallowed out the holes on the Chevy master to fit the 2 bolt booster. They’re close to being the same. Just needs to be a little wider
