Virtually nobody “needs” a new truck, though. It’s almost always a decision related to when you want it badly enough.

Sometimes I wish I had your self-control. Then again, in my case at least, the only luxury I afford myself is getting a new vehicle every 3-5 years or so.

The mental gymnastics for me is convincing myself it's more of a need than a want. My use case has legitimately evolved over the years, and that's my go to for self-justifying a change. My recent decision to trade two perfectly serviceable vehicles for new GX's is a perfect example of that.

In the end it truly is a "to each their own" situation, as it should be.

I was going to give you a hard time like some of the others after reading the title, but I agree with just about everything you say. I'm giving it 2 years to work the bugs out and then if all is good I'll look at an OR hybrid. I'm 54 years old and have learned Never buy a first production year, and never pay over MSRP.

Tinted windows (30 front/5 back), Weathertech window deflectors, chrome tailgate letters, raptor lights, front tow shackles, and red painted OEM skid plate
Why would you assume this? My wife and I just dropped cash on both a new 2023 Limited and a 2024 4Runner Sr5 Premium. Saved up for years to do this.

Oh yeah, #11, the 2024 looks ugly as can be. I would buy a Canyon if left with this as the only Tacoma option.

Real tough guys establish their masculine identity by their decision of what car they buy.

I got a cheap set of raptor lights you can have for 1/2 price. I’m always looking out for my TW brothers.

No argument with any of 1-10: especially #5 and #6. I would never order a 2024 or future Tacoma unless I could check: "factory delete" on that rediculous screen dominating the entire dash. That said, I would gladly pay extra for a full-instrumentation package, even if it cost more than the "Drive-In" touch screen.

2024/25 is going to be a good year to buy a late-production Tundra, especially if you want a stripped version that's sitting on the lot: Early bugs addressed, ridiculous dealer mark-ups on 2024 Tacomas so they overlap the MSRP of the Tundra. Dunno. But they should definitely try to find away to put a Lexus V8 into their full-sized pick-up offering. They don't get it: Ford, Chevy and Dodge are laughing their guts out. All they need to do is keep the check-box available to order a V8. Stupi-do. The Lexus V8 was the only real reason anyone purchased a T-100. The thing was smaller than a 2nd gen Tacoma. (and if it wasn't actually by chance by a few inches here and there: it certainly looked like it. :proposetoast:
