Has it evened out? Does it get off the line better? Any changes at all? Or no real changes but you've just gotten used to it?

Just wanted a little update on this. The hunt for a manual is killing me and I'm almost to the point of throwing in the towel. And I'd be able to get the JBL too... Someone on here mentioned an new remapped tranny program from their dealer too.

To me it feels completely different than it did when I bought the truck. I'm sure some of it is I'm just used to how it functions, but it feels much more responsive and I don't get any of the weird shifting.

I guess I should've said that the WAIT for a manual is my problem. I have an old friend at the local dealership who can hook me up with invoice pricing as long as it's something they have on the lot. Can't allocate or order one. Just waiting for a manual to arrive while all those autos come and go. But thanks for the help.

Excellent at 1900 miles. If you want to go fast and prevent up shift, just press the gas pedal a little more.

drives a whole lot better, but its probably me getting used to it and it does "learn", so its a 50/50 deal I think.

Transmission woke up after the first 1000k! Holds gear when climbing hills now. It no longer "hunts".

Most modern transmissions offer a couple different "modes/maps" of operations (do not think ect mode, its not that).Toyota engineers, program the transmission shift patterns into x amount of files called shift maps. These shift maps determine if the transmission shifting is agressive, gentle, or somewhere in between. But, since the transmission doesn't have an ai, that determines shift maps. What the trans does is, during the first 1k miles, it learns your specific driving style and matches it with the closest preprogrammed shift map. You can always change it, through a transmission reset so your not stuck eith that one map.

That's interesting to know. At first I was disappointed by the transmission shift points and of course it made the truck feel sluggish. I found the ECT button and kept highways speeds between 70-80mph if I could help it and did jack rabbit starts from red lights etc. etc.. Now the truck shifts aggressively after ~2,000 miles even though I don't drive like that anymore. So, I guess my plan worked. Some of it may be that I've got used to the vehicle too.

Mine still has a slow response time after 7,000 km. I just started driving with the ect button instead now. Going to the dealership on monday to have them check tranny fluid, reset tranny and start all over again. Im going to try what Invid did now that the engine is well worked in and see if it works, or if thats just how it drives.
