$1000 Prerunner Project

I picked up a non-running 2008 Access Cab Prerunner for $1000 from a friend. It had been immobile outside for quite some time. I'm making this thread to document the progress.

How it looked when I bought it:

 

The day it got loaded up:

 

Everything had a strong rat urine smell so clean-up began:


Some poor man's sound/heat shield:


Took the carpet to the carwash twice


Carpet and trim back in

 

The engine has 261k on the clock and is locked up. I'm going to pull the heads and try to get it to turn over, but with the mileage and current state, I may be doing an ls swap.

 

would love to come across a Propper pre runner for Mint400 shenanigans!

 

The long term plan is to go long travel.

 

That should keep you off the streets for awhile. In your shoes, I would probably swap engine/transmission and wire harness. Rodents do some damage.

Surprisingly enough I haven't come across any chewed up wiring. I'm looking for a complete gen3 ls to rebuild and swap in. I'd like to retain function of the factory gauges

 

Hope you can find a good owner for those nice 4Runner wheels.

 

Spoke too soon. Found some chewed up wiring

 

at least its there in a place you can splice and patch and cover. not hard to get into.

Looks like you have a ton of work headed your way but that also means potential.
