First heard for me. Last I knew the Tacoma still wasn't on Toyota's approved list for 10,000 mile intervals. Something may have changed though.

Did you show them the service interval in the owners manuals?

You need to go to another dealer. The one you arre using sucks.

I told them what the book says.....I think they all just fell off a turnip truck. Will change it this w/e with Mobile 1. Went in this morning to get all six crush sleeves for the running gear. They told me the trasfer case doesn't have any. Happy to have TW as backup. These twits should be working for Ford

I change the oil every 3-4K. I use reg oil. I don't care what the book says, I don't want to depend on an idiot light to tell me when to change the oil. I don't care about wasting natural resources. I do care about keeping the oil clean. If I error on changing it to often - so be it. It's relaxing for me to crawl under the taco and do a little wrenching. I can have it changed in two beers.

Don't listen to what dealers tell you. They are very mis-informed. I've gotten into arguements with the amount of oil needed, the weight of oil recommended, time/mileage between services, etc.

Do your research and read the manual. It then becomes clear what is correct/best practice.

Sad but true... I suspect many of the techs see that it's synthetic oil and immediately conclude it's a 10k mile OCI, forgetting or not knowing that some models require 5k OCI regardless of the oil type. I'm surprised that they have not run into this before and not learned as a result.

Good advice. Nobody knows and loves our trucks the way we do ;)

You are correct Sir ! There is no filter that is good after 7500 miles period. If you spend $30,000 or so on a truck and go for extended OCI you are penny wise and pound foolish or just foolish - only exception - if you trade it every 3 years or are on a lease - they you don't care.

Not sure about that. Maybe for Toyota's, but my BMW Z4M has 15K oil change interval(as did my Boxster). Both high performance motors. I am going with 10K intervals on my 2.7 Taco. I may just do a Blackstone analysis on the oil to see what they say.

I changed the oil in my M3 every 10k and that thing saw 7k+ RPMs every chance I got. No issues with oil or filters.

At my second oil change I'll send a sample to Blackstone to see what they have to say about the oil after 5k miles, and I'll post the results here.

Toyota wants to service the truck every 6 months during the free service period. I got an overdue notice when I waited a week or 2 past six months. It had 3000 miles on it.
