I'd continue to use the same oil that's always been used.
In owning/operating a chain of auto parts store for 16 years I've experienced vehicles start using oil after changing types/weights of oil.

    Same as everybody else...
I think as long as you use the proper weight and an oil that meets the specs you should be fine either way. If you do alot of stop and go driving, towing or any usual driving I'd go synthetic

Is your valve train ticky with synthetic oil?

I'd go with Pennzoil Platinum Ultra. It is what I use in all of my small lawn equipment and will be using it on my newly acquired Tacoma. In my opinion and based on multiple Oil Analysis from bobistheoilguy.com Mobil 1 is good but is severely overrated.
In the past is has been true that switching from Dino oil to full syn has caused oil leaks but most oil manufactures consistently reassure consumers that new full synthetic oil will not do that. But, if it has superior detergents and anti-sludge additives it may be true that it unclogs/dissolves/removes sludge that was clogging a potential oil leak and now you will leak oil.

The ticking you are referring to is probably not in the valve train, it's the fuel injectors.

It's called the "Taco Tick" and is completely normal.

And no... syn oil did not make any additional ticks.

    Lmao at bobistheoilguy.

All I know is I had an old Ford 150 with an oil leak quite a few years back. I did an oil change and used Penzoil... the oil leak went away.

I only used Penzoil... no stop leak or anything else... and it stopped the oil leak. If bobistheoilguy says Penz is good and Mobil 1 is over rated... he's a fucking moron.

    ?
Bobistheoilguy.com is a great resource and many people post their experience and actual oil analysis sent into various labs. It's a great way to compare how the same oil holds up in different engines.

I'd use Pennzoil any day over Mobil 1, especially their synthetic line.

Doesn't really matter though. Everyone has their own opinions and the results of an oil analysis will provide concrete proof as to whether or not a particular oil does well in your environment and with your driving habits.

One can never have too many light bars.
I lubricate my engine with the tears of Tennessee Volunteers fans. Needless to say my engine runs damn smooth.
