I am coming up on 100k miles on my Taco. Been a great truck.
The only issues were two U joints (warranty).

So I took it to the Toyota House for some routine maintenance. I am treating it to a transmission flush (#2), power steering fluid change, differential fluid change and a brake fluid change (#2). I will change the serpentine belt myself. I always change my own oil and did that this past weekend and changed the headlights out with aftermarket units resembling the stock headlights.

Hopefully, I can get 100k more miles out of Blue before any major maintenance is needed. So far a super reliable, good looking and quick truck. Best truck made in my opinion. Besides, if they are tough enough for the Taliban, you know they have to be good.

    Spock Out!:)

How much they charge you for your 100k maintenance?

It would be interesting how much they charge. If you change your own oil you might as well do the rear diff yourself. It isn't difficult and would cost you less than 60 dollars, maybe less than 50 depending on fluid and gadgets used. Doing it when you do the oil change works out well. Then if you're going to do that you might as well do the power steering too. Somebody posted a link on doing that recently and it looked simple. I plan on doing that this weekend along with a couple other things. Brake fluid I have no idea about and the same goes for coolant.

Post 12 for power steering flush.

The 100K Maintenance was alot more than I thought regarding cost.

My major concern was getting the transmission serviced. I do it every 50k. Then the Toyata House called me and suggested I perform brake fluid change, power steering fluid change, fuel injector flush, surpentine belt change, differential oil change. Since the truck was already there I relented and told them to do it as I am very busy.

When I picked my Taco up the bill was $915.00. Materials were $450.00 and the rest Labor. I could have done it all myself except for the transmission flush. But right now I do not have the time. I felt a little violated by the Toyota House but all in all my Taco is serviced and runs like a new one.

My suggestion is start preparing in advance for your 100k service and save yourself some money by doing what you can yourself. That way time constraints will not be a factor.

But why wait till 100k or eve 50k? Just do them one at a time or a couple at a time. Hell, do one once a month if you have to.

Don't know how often brake fluid has to be 'flushed'. Yes, have heard about how it degrades, collects moisture, etc. etc. But it seems like it's detrimental to the system unless you have to change a caliper or wheel cyl. On my '00 sienna they had to 'change' the brake fluid then 20k miles later, rear wheel cyl's leaked costing $700.00. Maybe if they hadn't fooled with it, this wouldn't have been necessary. So from now on, unless it says to flush brake fluid in the maintenance manual, not gonna do it.

WRT power steering fluid; I use a hand pump (cleaned out liq. soap bottle/pump) and change the fluid in the tank this way; takes about 20 minutes. Use Prestone PS fluid. Do this every 3 years or so and the fluid will always be fresh; With an inline engine, the ps pump is in the front, stays cool (rel to transferse mount) and fluid doesn't degrade very much. This can save about $150.00 in dealer charges.

The rest of this; diff's and tranny, I'd pay to do.

Dang I didn't think it'd be that much. Think I'll definitely try to do as much as I can myself. I've got spark plugs and figure my next oil change I'll do my rear differential as well. I still got 10k before I hit 100k.
