You misunderstood what I was saying. You can change it everyday for all I care. I’m saying that if I was the CEO of Toyota or a chief engineer ( both of which I’m not) why take a chance of ruining the reputation of long engine life’s by stretching out oil changes? My accord I did it by oil life %. Generally I did it every 5-6k. To each his own do what you want. Argue till you turn blue like your lil emoji but I’m doing more research before I jump up and down and say conspiracy from Toyota. For now I’m sticking with 2018 technology and recommend care. I was given a 100,000 6 year extended bumper to bumper warranty for free as an incentive so if it ruins it I get a free engine. Like I said. Why ruin a reputation of long lasting engines to suggest delaying oil changes.

5000 miles for me regardless on what they recommend. I’ll never wonder if I’m waiting too long nor will I blame my lack of oil changes if something goes bad years later. It’s not like I’m going to break the bank on a few extra DIY oil changes.

Because I'm too lazy to get it analyzed and I would probably still change it at 5000.

Welcome to 2018... If they had the oils we have today, back 30,40,50 years ago they would have had longer drain recommendations. Engine tolerances are definitely better, but the lubricants are what is so much better today that allow the extended drains. But your right, its your money, piss it away if you want.

Doesn’t Toyota state every 10k miles or every 12 months for an oil change? For guys like me 12 months will come long before 10k miles. That’s why I won’t be changing mine at 10k mile intervals at least.

I believe that's what the manual states. I've had my truck a little over two years and have had 5 oil changes though. I'm the opposite.

Somewhere in TW there’s a post from someone who sent an oil sample to Blackstone at 10k miles and readings were normal. This isn’t 1960 anymore. Oil has come A LONG way along with other engine components and what not. If you have the cash and it makes ya feel better, do it. If you wanna save that money and spend it on a mod instead, good move. My truck is approaching 7k miles on its oil since the last change and it’s still clean looking. About to hit 20k on the odometer and zero issues in the year I’ve owned it.

Unless you’re racing your truck in nascar or driving in Antarctica I wouldn’t change it any earlier.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. I know i would be just fine going over a year and waiting until I hit 10k miles. It’s not like 10k or 12 months is the absolute max the engine can take before grenading haha But if we all are saying go off what Toyota says then I’ll be changing mine earlier than 10k.

First oil change was at 1500 miles. Will change it again at the one year mark like the manual states which will be long before even the 5k mark. Even if I was racking up the miles I don't go over 5k - but that's just me and what I do. Change it out when you feel comfortable, it is your truck and your money.

I drive severe conditions west Texas oil fields sucking dust. 5k changes.
In other I have vehicles 1 year 10k is fine. This is a service use decision. I don’t like changing my oil every two months. But I am also having to replace an air filter every 10k . It’s bad

Just went this pass Friday after work to get an oil change. 5k miles. Dealership told me to come back when I hit 10k. Is this any truth to this?
