Anyone else have any issues with batteries? I just hit 10k and checked under the hood after the first schedule mx and saw acid all over the top and bulging at the sides. Im in El Paso so its seen some high underhood temps, other than that its just seen normal driving with minimal trail driving.

Definitley take it to the dealer, probably got a bad battery. They should replace it

.. doubtful. Bulged, leaking batteries aren't a rare occurrence.

toyota batteries are junk and will always leak.

Replace with new or clean it off regularly until it dies.

My battery died after 700 miles. Dealer tried telling me it was because the truck sat at the lot and it was so cold. I picked up truck the day it hit the lot and it was 60 degrees out. Just a bad battery, no issues since.

Most likely a bum battery, BUT, overcharging one constantly while driving could do that as well...might not be a bad idea to check the voltage regulator output just to be safe.

My 2002's battery went 8 years also. Might have went longer - I replaced it because it was 8 years old and I didn't think batteries were supposed to last that long.

Got 4 years out of one.

Then it was replaced by another. That one leaked constantly. It lasted 4 years.

Replaced it with a high line Auto Craft battery from Advanced auto. Get this, NO MORE LEAKING

They dont build things like they used to lol. they tested it and the tech told me it was good so i told him to do a charging system check, he was like oh yes thats a good idea. then magically 10 min later there replacing my battery and the rep showed me a slip with results from a bad battery. I dont even think they tested the charging, they just tested a bad battery on the shelf to get it over with. ill put my DMM on it tomorrow and verifiy its regulating correct.

I don't know if the quality has gone down recently, but mine lasted over 7 years and wasn't treated well, so I disagree.

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
Possible charging issue. Had a '12 F250 that had a bad alternator and was overcharging the battery. Same symptoms... battery looked like it had an air hose up it's ass. Glad they replaced your battery with only minimal stealership rhetoric, hopefully they were smart enough to test the alternator too!

    Same.

Not sure why this is a thread. You're under warranty, dealer replaced it, and you're on your way. It isn't some major Toyota battery issue. There are like 6 battery manufacturers that just rebrand for different markets.

I've owned many Toyotas never had one leak and all
lasted a long time without issue.

Usually that is the case. We have vehicles that can sit on the lot for a year or longer. No one goes and starts these up every few days and charges them. It's almost routine for them to say that. Not saying it makes it right, I'm just saying most batteries replaced on new vehicles, are because of this reason. It's possible they had it changed at another dealer than the dealer it was purchased from. If so they would have no history of how long the truck was there or when exactly it was sold. While it's bad batteries do get shipped in brand new trucks, usually it's from the neglect sitting on dealer lots and where I live the cold plays a huge role in the demise of these as well. This is why the manufacturers stopped covering batteries in these scenarios

The one in my '04 T4R ran 10 years, then the only reason it died is because it sat for a year.
