As some of you may remember, back in late November I pulled the trigger on a brand new 2014 Toyota Tacoma:

    2014 DCSB 4x4 V6 5A SR5, Blue Ribbon Metallic.

Well in the last four months I have been commuting and traveling like a madman, and racked up 10,000 miles!

    IMG_91341_zpsd7391715_26aa814f2ceebbd81c8f5e75660918698f94c51e.jpg

Mostly highway driving, but it has been offroad once or twice, as well as survived Icepocalypse 2014

As far as "modifications" I haven't done anything to alter the function of the truck. I have installed Weathertech Floor Liners, Wet Okole waterproof seat covers, and a Bak Industries Roll-X bed cover. The only other add on I plan on doing anytime soon is a Pop and Lock locking tailgate.

The only problems I have encountered so far on this truck are as follows:
    - Came from the dealer slightly out of alignment. You couldn't even notice it unless going along a flat highway. The dealer fixed it under the warranty, no problems since
    - Windshield wiper motor makes an odd clicking sound at its lowest speed. Annoying, but doesn't affect the functionality.
    - Paint seems soft/thin compared to my old Nissan and other vehicles. Within 2000 miles I had two small chips. Fortunately a Dr Color Chip kit covered them right up. Once I start spending more time on dirt roads I will consider having the rocker panels Line-X'd

    As far as the pros:
    - Quiet and smooth especially compared to my old Nissan Frontier
    - Powerful, and fuel economy that I consider acceptable for a truck like this (about 18.5 mixed no matter how conservatively I drive, it can get about 21 on the highway (so it gets right at EPA estimates). 93 octane gets another MPG or so, but the cost per mile is higher so not worth it)
    - Comfortable
    - Plenty capable for my uses. It's good to go for what I intend to use it for: Commuting, light offroading, hauling motorcycles, and moving every few years

Dropping as much coin as I did was definitely a tough pill to swallow, but so far I'm extremely pleased with my decision!

That's like 2 complete fill-ups a week...crazy!!!! Guess you have to have a vehicle you LOVE to drive. Great to see the Tacoma fits the bill...

The high miles are mainly due two driving between AL and TX 3x, but yep for daily commuting and weekend trips it has added up.

Your truck looks great! I just picked mine up last week and they had a blue double cab that looked identical to yours. It really is a great blue, if it was manual I probably would have gone with it. The paint thing scares me, so I think I'm going to do a plasti dip clear coat to hopefully protect it and maintain close to factory paint look.

    Wow, that's some miles.
I bought mine on Halloween night, have about 3,700 miles on it.
That might change soon, thinking about taking a new job.
I would have to travel about 37 miles to work one way compared to 12.
Of course the new job would be about a 45% raise, easy choice for me.
Might even buy a little gas sipper for the work drive.:p

Like the color of your truck, my wife wanted me to get that, I went with the magnetic grey just to piss her off and it worked.

Hey Alabama, that's my old stopping grounds, still get back there once or twice a year.

Wow on those miles... got my 2014 mid December and I've got 2050 miles so far. 8 mile commutes help keep the miles down.

I like the seat covers... been going back and forth on getting that.

Watch the pop n lock... installed mine last month and now the lock doesn't respond to my key. I've called the company.. waiting to see if they send replacement... still have to get the tailgate down somehow.

I got mine at the end of December and have just under 6K right now. I had a few road trips in there also. I love my truck so far.
