Down to my final two choice of wheels to buy when they come back into stock.

After hours of reading, I would like some feedback on the any negative aspects to -10mm offset on the SCS Ray 10s. I know that a greater offset puts more load on bearings. But is there anything else ??

My final choice is between the SCS Ray 10 17in and the FN wheels BFD 18in.

Does having the -10mm offset create a bigger arc for the tire when turning, meaning more likely to rub ?

Will be just leveling the truck with 6112's and figure I can get either 265/70 r 17 for the Ray 10s and 265/65 r18 for the BFD's.. 31.5-32in tire for either.

Also, How come no body goes to the 285/ 60 R18.. Is that not small enough in diameter to fit in even though its a 285?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated in helping me decide

I have the Ray 10s on my Sport. If you still have the stock mud flaps on the front wheels your going to have to get rid of them.
Even with a 265 width tire you get a great look with the negative offset.
I haven't noticed a big change doing tight turns, no rubbing once front flaps were off.
I know that once the Rays were on my truck I was totally happy with my choice and they were worth the wait.

You want to worry more about the backspacing spec than offset. You want a wheel with a maximum backspacing of 4.5-4.75" to clear your suspension parts at full lock. If the backspacing is too deep, you will rub and need wheel spacers to clear.

Great, Thanks.. So with 5in BS I would basically always be stuck buying 265mm tires ? Unless I got spacers, which I would never do

The rim itself will rub. You would need to run wheel spacers, so the rim wouldn't rub.

You can get tire rub with 4.5" or less backspaced rims, but that's usually on the mudflaps, cab mounts, and/or inner fender wells. That's why most running tires over 265/70/17 remove the front mudflaps and do a cab mount chop. I'm running 265/70/17 tires on 17x7 rims with a 4" backspace and get some rubbing right before full lock when I'm backing up.

Sick thanks guys. Still on the fence between wheels. But least I have narrowed it down to two finalists !!

so if I got the SCS Stealth 6's 17x8.5 4.30"BS -10mm and put my current 295/70r17 tires on, would I have issues?
(I have CMC and inner liners trimmed)
(current wheel is 17x9 -12mm, no rub)

I have this now. I have a 265/70-17. Want to put on 285/70-17. Will I need to CMC and add spacer? And if spacer what size?

It'll be tight. Ideally you'd be at 4.5" back spacing. Those wheels are showing 4.88" so you're only about .38" off.
17" methods are 4.75" backspacing and people clear 285s all the time so I'd think you'd be ok, but it'll be tight.

Depending on your caster #s you may need the CMC. It's a good idea to get it either way to avoid rubbing offroad.

Should I get spidertrax 1 1/4 just to be safe? I'm getting those kings from you guys and new JBA UCA as well. I am/ will be doing some wheeling.

If you do 1.25" spidertrax you'd have plenty of room, it'll just stick out past the fender meaning CMC is required and more trimming.

A 265 is 10.7" wide and a 285 is 11.5" wide. As long as you have more than .4" of clearance your 285s will fit (at DD psi, aired down may be a different story depending on how much room is available...)
