I heard somewhere that if you went back to conventional oil from synthetic your vehicle would more than likely leak. Just what I heard from someone sometime. I have nothing to support that.

I stopped using synthetic in my old GTI ('05 1.8T with VVT) it got too damned expensive to maintain that car. For a year before I traded it in I stopped using synthetic and used valvoline. It didn't leak except for when a rock put a hole in my $600 oil pan.

There is more than 1 variant of the 1GR
I don’t participate in oil discussions, but that might give you a little bit more information that might help you.

Why? It calls for 5/30. My last two only had 300K miles on them though.

10W30 is obsolete, who the hell carries it still?

It's 5W30 but worse in cold weather. It's pointless.

    I haven't seen 10W30 since 2007.

It will be fine in any 2nd gen tacoma, but I personally wouldn't run it myself because of my Canadian winters.

Edit, old thread and look at my comment haha

Being that my comment was almost 13 years ago, Im sure some things have changed since. When was the TSB released?

I’m not the guy that quoted you.
But this is the best I can come up with.
And it only applies to 2011-2015 Tacoma trucks with 2.7.
Which is not what the guy above was asking about.
