Actually no problem as long as it's the 4 cyl/5 spd.

Im more concerned with why they chose to have both GMC and Chevy as different trucks... its the same truck with different badges.

The real towing kings are the Dodge RAM 3500 and 2500 diesels, customer satisfaction is tops.

Disagree with the above comment. Ford, GM, and Fiat all build comparable 3/4 and 1 ton trucks when it comes to towing. GM and Ford dont have the quality issues of Fiat however...though they have plenty. Resale tells the story.

As for Tacoma’s...I hauled almost exactly 5500 in a twin axle enclosed 14ft trailer a couple weeks ago with my 2019 2TR-FE a/t a couple weeks ago. My truck is also on KO2 33s. Did 60-65 in 4th and down shifted to 3rd on grades. Stable and the brakes handled it fine. I was impressed considering I got my truck for its off road prowess

It would have been further down the list if they had included the Ranger

It's all really based on knowing what your towing needs are. For me the Taco will pull what I need and I bought it knowing that before the purchase. It's a give and take scenario when it comes to what you need and want out of your truck.

Traded in my F-350 diesel dually in on my current Tacoma.
I'd be happy to never back up to a gooseneck, 5th wheel, or for that matter, to ever bounce a hitch off a ball again.

Not gonna happen, but I sure as shit didn't go Tacoma shopping with towing in mind.

Just saw a review of sports cars including the Tacoma and it came in second to last.

All they did was list a bunch of trucks and the higher the towing capacity the "better" the truck is at towing. I doubt there were any actual tests performed. So i guess that means the ranger would have been better had it been included.

I have 44k miles on my truck and probably 15k-20k miles of it is with a trailer attached. I am lifted, have oversized tires, cap, full prinsu, and as a contractor my bed is full of crap at all times. When I get in my truck, it probably is over its rated payload...

I do not tow to the max, but for what the truck is I have never had an issue. I work my truck as hard as anyone here and as a result it probably won't last as long as it should, but in S-mode and ect in the hills it does everything fine for a midsize truck. If I had to tow to the max, i'd get a half ton, like anyone with a brain would, but I prefer the compact size and came from a fullsize anyways.

Power is never an issue, brakes on the other hand... I do think the gearing in the auto could be much better between 3rd and 4th as up steep grades the truck will over power 3rd and lug 4th.

It's not perfect, but it's fine for what it is.

My grandpa just had to trade his 2019 Tacoma in for a Tundra after finding out that a trailer that looks very towable on paper just isn’t with the Tacoma. He said he was pulling hills going 35 mph max on the highway. It’s a 5200 lb travel trailer.

With the frontal area of that trailer, I'm not surprised. They don't really factor that into the rating. It's like towing a kite, weighs a little, drags a lot.
