I struggle to find a use for the inverter that Toyota provides in my new 2010 Tacoma.

WTH only uses 3.63 amps? I could barely run a radio off of it...much a less a TV (for tailgating) or skil saw (for construction work).

What do you use yours for?

You couldn't run a vacuum off of it?? Seems pretty useless then. I thought the switch in the cab was supposed to let you switch it to a higher wattage, no?

Ran a small buffer with it to detail my car earlier this year. Haven't had any other use for it since.

I have charged camera and video camera batteries with mine when kayaking. I have also run a small shop vacuum to vacuum the truck and to pump water out my kayaks. It has worked well for my uses.

i use it alot when i go camping .... i was going to key west and forgot to charge the camera battery .... on my way there i charged my battery ... very useful, i also use it for my buffer, night light if i am working at night on something, a little shop vac ( mine worked just fine) When i go camping i pretty much hook my fan/heater, air matress..... lights..... a whole bunch of stuff .... i think it really depends on what you do .. i personally fine it super useful... especially at the beach or something where there is no power supply ....

When i was looking at different trucks I took a jig saw / scroll saw to the dealership and with the truck running and the inverter on the 400W setting I was able to run the saw.

Used mine to run my laptop and modem and a few lights when my power went out a few weeks ago. Had my other truck powering two 1000 watt inverters (dual batts and dual alternators) to run the blower on my wood furnace and fridge as well. Single digits outside and it was 75 inside and I still had entertainment.

I used mine for the first time tonight to power a heat gun. I was putting my TacomaWorld.com sticker on and desperately needed my heat gun but didn't want to run an extension cord. (I live in an upstairs apartment with the garage on the bottom and the garage doesn't have a single outlet in it.)

    It seriously made my day.
    :D
