110v Bed outlet running an air compressor?

    image.jpg I have a 4gal Maximum air compressor that I would like to throw in the bed when I go wheeling. Question is can the bed outlet safely run this compressor in terms of wattage, amps and the stock wire gauge used for that outlet. Here are the specs on the compressor

    No. It is good for about 4 amps. Your compressor is nearly double that.

    Well that sucks. So if I try to use it would that mean it will operate at half the capacity? As you can tell I'm no electrical guru. I realize that this compressor requires 825 watts. Bed outlet provides 400, will it hurt the compressor?

    Anyone use a 110v compressor on that outlet? I'm looking for an alternative to the slow dc compressors

    A DC compressor that connects strait to the battery is not limited in current draw like the bed outlet. DC compressors have direct access to the power source. If it is slow, it is because you are running a slow compressor, not because it is DC.

    One can never have too many light bars.
    You could get an inverter that connects to the battery that's powerful enough for like 100 bucks. Not as pretty but it will get the job done

    I think any of the 110 compressors that will run on the outlet will be slow but there are a lot of 12v compressors that are fairly fast. Combine one with an onboard tank and you really have a winner.
