Mine works great. Built a handicap ramp for my neighbor and powered my grinder from the bed outlet to taper the end of the ramp.

I’ve had long drives to relative’s Christmas party where we had a soup bar. I plugged in a crockpot inside a cooler with towels and it kept the soup hot for the 2 hour drive. If I put it on high it will trip the breaker. Low works just fine. I’ve done that maybe 6 times. I do charge my cordless drill while driving between jobs.

Did a 3000 mile camping roadtrip with the family and kept a cheapie cooler/fridge running with it while going from place to place, worked great!

Pretty worthless IMO. I bought an inverter that clips to the battery for my 1st gen to run carpenter tools before everything went cordless and before trdor came with the inverter. Got the 2nd gen and thought oh how cool don't need the external inverter, wrong. Wouldn't power the drill or skill saw. Got the 3rd gen and just laughed at it. Still carry the portable inverter when I need it. Nice to run tools for a short time without the motor running.

I have used it twice in 13 years. Once to power a radio during a power outage and once for my overhead doors during the same.

I'm a new owner and not an electrician, will it work to charge a power station on the way to and from camp? Like plug in a Goal Zero Yeti and charge it up on the drive?

Yes. Done this a lot. Just depends on power supply. Small GZ only needs 65 watts or so, but larger is 120w power supply that will trip the breaker, unless you do 400w anytime mod. With that mod, you could buy the 230w power supply for faster charging. I would charge my Gooloo (60w), GZ500x (65w) and run my Dometic fridge all at the same time. Stop and go traffic, it can cause a low voltage error that shuts off ABS, stability control, etc, but resets if you turn off truck and start it back up.

Yeah, we plan on getting the Yeti 500x. We'll be using it for LED lighting and fans while camping with the occasional phone recharge and run a coffee maker in the mornings. I have a solar panel running my greenhouse fans that we can bring on an extended campout if we want a fridge and more power. I think it'll be fine enough.

    Too much to list
Cooler/Freezer when on the road, Recharging power banks, Christmas lights during that season, if you don't have a cordless chop saw or etc.

The only limitation is your mind.

I am going to say skip the Yeti 500x. Goal Zero has amazing customer service, but their products are horribly unreliable.

Purchased 500x knowing my ordered Yoho Camper was coming with a 1000x.

500x failed on 2nd use. Would not accept charge.
500x received as replacement failed in same manner after 2 months or so.
1000x received with camper could not run my Dometic fridge. Would trip breaker randomly, usually within 10 seconds, sometimes 4-6 hours later. GZ sent me a replacement.
500x received as replacement of the 2nd one, also could not run my Dometic CFX75DZW, even though the Gooloo P500 I owned never had an issue. Used the 500x for everything BUT my fridge for several months.
1000x received as replacement, I sold new in box to help fund Bluetti AC200max. Shortly after, I sold my 500x as well, and purchased the new P600 (P500 was discontinued)

I tripped the breaker in the P5/600 one time, when I had every light in my camper on, the ceiling vent fan, the fireplace fan, and the Fridge compressor kicked on. And yes, I was running my Scout Yoho off the Gooloo. It has proven FAR more reliable than the Yeti.

Currently, the Gooloo is $219.99 if you "clip the coupon" on Amazon. Normally $399.99, but check the box for coupon and the 180 off shows in your cart. My friend has purchased two, and my sister purchased one. I'm a huge proponent of this brand, and thanks to my wife buying me a Gooloo jump pack YEARS ago (that still works), I know their products can last. In between that first jump pack, and the power stations, I also purchased a pile of a newer, larger jump packs for all my family members for Christmas. It was like a black Friday sale on Amazon, Amazon day thing or whatever. As far as I know, they all still work. We use that latest jump pack to run a heated blanket or a big string of LED lights around camp. And of course to jump start cars when needed.
