with 12% body fat, you wont be able to see the cuts that your are looking for. Roughly around 6% body fat is where you can start to see the abdominal cuts. The body builders that are amazingly cut, have body percentages in the 2% range. Their skin lays almost right on the muscle, where an average person skins lays over a layer of fat then the muscle. Now what can you do? Well you can try to use tempos within your workouts to facilitate more of a cardio within your strength training. A tempo is essential the negatives. SO on bench bench you would do 4 seconds down (bar to your chest) and explode up. Not only will you get more gains from this, due to the "negative" working the muscle more but you get cardio involved.

Now diet does play a big role, but depending on how you do your acutal cardio may affect your fat loss. If you just run for say an hour, ur body will start to feel under stress and its not normal to sustain such a high pace for a long period. With this your body will secret cortisol and you will start storing fat. instead do intervals. Run as hard as you can for 30 seconds, and break for 1 min. by doing intervals, your body wont feel stressed as your giving the body time to rest from the sprint.

    good luck in your goals,

I wouldn't worry about definition now that winters coming. If I was in your shoes i would keep bulking and then wait until early spring and begin cutting. Also consider your diet make sure you are maintaining proper protein intake (shoot for at least 1 gram per pound of body weight)
