Hi y'all. I'm going through this right now, I'm not 100% done, but I have a good start with part numbers and pricing so I figured I'd start a thread about this since I've received a few PMs in the last few days about this.

Items you'll need to replace your front end of your 05 - 11 Tacoma to make it look like the 2012 beast:
    1 - Hood
1 - Hood scoop block off if you want the hood scoop version of the hood
    2 - headlights
2 - headlight filler (between headlights and bumper)
    1 - Grill
    1 - Bumper

And apparently there could be some brackets that are needed as well.
Currently mine looks like this below, but I will be updating this thread until I complete the front end swap.

12 hood is different. (No it will not fit nicely at all, trust me....)
The -12 model hood is more curved than the 12. I tried leaving my 06 hood on after I installed just the grill and headlights and it would barely close. When it did close, there was a gap in the center of the hood and it tapered down towards the headlights. Plus the lines of where the "crease" is looks really funny too.

I guess that is up to how you define "expensive", but thanks for the great contribution.

Thanks man. I think I know the answer to this question already... but if I were to buy a 2012, would a "05+" one-piece hood conversion (for long-travel) fit on the 2012? Sorry if the question sounds reduntant but I asked the long-travel guys and nobody knew.

I can't wait til it's done. Good thing a good buddy back home is a body guy.

I think I've decided to just go with the stock front bumper. I was in limbo about putting on a custom steel one, but I don't want to put $1500+ and have to wait for 6 months to get the damn thing. I will be ordering the hood scoop block and bumper tomorrow so updated pics should be up early next week. Hopefully I don't get anything more than a few bugs in the hood scoop hole before then.

So no? cuz I might buy a '12 and LT it with the one-piece hood from fiberwerx. Just want a straight answer.

wasn't trying to discredit you. it's your truck, do as you please. i like the front end of the '12s, hence one of the reasons why i have one. it does look a bit off at the moment, but definitely a good work in-progress.

If I knew what the hell you were talking about, I'd answer. What does long travel have to do with a hood? I will let someone else answer your question.

10-4, thank you. I love the looks of the '12 too. I was almost happy when the chunk of tire tread came up about windshield level and then dropped and SLAMMED into my front end taking out my grill and headlight last week. :D
I figured it was a good time to figure out if this "conversion" could work, and now that I'm going through it, I thought I'd start this thread. I agree, it does look a little funky with the gap under the headlights. It will get there soon. The big in thing I think is that the fenders are the same from 05 through 12. So that part of both headlights fit.

looks like there is a pretty large gap between the bumper and the grille and lights....is that finished?

This IS a pic in process. But no, as far as a DIY....no. There are other threads like the "black out headlight" thread that show pics of what you have to do to replace headlights. It's all very simple though, so I didn't think it was necessary.
If I come across anything that I actually have to fab, then I will detail that procedure.

I knew it would work. Good to know that I wouldn't have to change out the core support either
I've been thinking of doing this as well
