Several months ago, I heard what I thought was a rock stuck under a heat shield. I checked all over and found nothing. The sound eventually went away but came back this past few weeks. It currently sounds is like broken glass/ceramic in the exhaust. I narrowed it down to the left Catalytic Converter but took it to the dealer who advised that BOTH Catalytic Converters are bad and need replacements. (Seriously? a 2012 Tacoma with 59k miles?)

Now, this is a $2,500 service! Fortunately, it is covered under the 8 yr/80,000 mile US Federal Emissions Warranty. This is great news except the dealer is out of stock for the actual Catalytic Converters and told me that they do not expect them in for 2-3 weeks as they must use only OEM Toyota parts to comply with the warranty.

The truck is drivable but does make an embarrassing clanking noise. I understand that this will likely lead to a blockage/check engine light. To the dealer's credit, they did offer to put me in a loaner until the parts arrive but it's not going to be my awesome and cool Tacoma and heaven forbid it be a Prius.

Does anyone know where I may direct my dealer to source OEM Tacoma Catalytic Converters?
