It’s honestly not that bad. I drilled a hole and used a jigsaw. For mine. I used a dremel on the flares.

The first cut is always the hardest. Then you get to my point where cutting stuff is towards the top of the options list

I used a jig saw on the fender and the flare. Trying to get one corner done to see how I like my cut and how things fit back together. would love to do the same cut as @81Trekker but it wouldn’t like up with my front bumper at all. Just cut one taking 2” off. I like how it looks except the gap between the flare and fender, seems like it would catch a lot of crap. image.jpg

Got all the fenders cut and everything clears so now to get it out of my shop and see how it does

Looks like I am going to have to change tires. These acceleras won’t balance and anything over 30mph they shake the steering wheel out of your hand. To keep from rubbing might have to step down a size for now. :(
What is everyone running for bead lock wheels? I know trail ready are awesome but also come at a price. Anyone running any other brands for bead locks? Going to step up to a 17” so I have more choices for tires.

I know. Was trying to save up for the 2.25 kit though. What size/ backspacing are you running for trail readys? Are you guys a dealer for them?

Couldn’t wait to get it out so we took one of our normal drives. Just forest service roads up through the mountain next to the house. Easy trip but had to get a picture. Hoping to get the tires changed this week so we can take it out farther. 530D157C-DFA1-4E34-BF1B-13B209F1A7AC.jpg

My current wheels are 4.5BS and rub spindle and a arm with a 315. Is there that much difference 16”vs 17”. Hate to buy wheels and then the tires still won’t clear

Thanks to @snowsk8air2 my front tires will clear the spindle. Now to make sure they clear everything else. 0E596A98-B683-4615-8DDD-34BE485BAA00.jpg

Anyone have any pointers on where to carry a spare cv? Or do you even carry one?

I keep a spare parts tote with a space cv, limit straps, u-bolts, some wiring stuff, and all sorts of bolts for fitting all suspension components. Just wrap the ends good to keep the boots safe

Ok so just in a tote in the bed? Was wondering if there was some trick spot to tuck one away

Yeah that’s what I do. But I also only typically carry it with me on bigger trips like rubicon, moab, or other crawling trips. I’ll bring the tote but leave it at camp for desert stuff. But a lot more likely to break a front axle crawling than hauling ass in the desert in 2wd

Ya taking it on one of our first rock crawling trips this weekend so I grabbed a CV, tie rod inner, and a hub. Figured that should cover the big stuff.

what HC read bumpers does anyone suggest?

If you can weld then look at the coastal offroad diy kits. Their rears are a decent design, just heavy. Otherwise build something out of tube if you can. I’m building a new tube one for a buddy here in a few weeks
