Out of curiosity has anyone ever taken fireworks ? Just asking NOT saying that I’m taking any lol

 

Is it 4wd only?

 

No it's 4x4 only, but recommended, if you want to go wheeling. Other than that, you can park and chill, drink some colds ones if you prefer ...

 

Does anyone play golf & perhaps want to get a round in Friday? I am open to any course in the area

 

I have a 2wd taco and I’m always going any chance i got to the island, and it all depends how loose the sand is, there’s times where it’s super soft and times that it’s a bit firm. So if it’s soft what I do is I air down to 15 psi and turn off my traction control,helps me out A LOT! To drive through the sand, even at times my brother-in-law has a F-150 4x4 and he gets stuck to where I pull him out sometimes. Not saying I don’t get stuck at times, but as long as you air down and have your traction control off it will help out in moving through the sand.

 

I can't remember anyone that has taken fireworks buuuuut then again I've only ever stayed until after dark about twice.

Looks like personnel fireworks are not legal anywhere on the Island.

Anyone got opinions on the Holiday Inn Express just down from the Beach Access? Stayed there last time I went to SPI but that was in 2015.

 

So far people haven’t complain plus you get to see the fireworks at night, or you could save money and camp at the beach , but nah you should be alright, they keep it pretty clean.

 

I didn't know you could camp on the beach...hmmm...

 

Oh yeah people take Tents, RV they make camp fires.

 

Will be there. Don't have the Taco anymore but will either bring the FJ or the 4Runner.
During the season they keep Access 6 nice and clear but depending on tides and how close folks park to the water it can get a little soft after turning left on the beach. Also just like last year the police have been not letting you park right along the water in the more crowded areas. Prolly bout the first 5 miles north or Access 6. Once past the end of the road on the beach folks spread out.

This looks pretty exciting, will meet up with other at Bass Pro Shop in Harlingen to head out to SPI! ✅
