Greetings! New here and new to a Taco. Coming out of a Silverado, so be gentle.

I am a HAM radio operator so I need to run a 12v line to the rear wall of a '14 Taco 4 door. From the batt down along frame rail to rear wall of cab. Question is how to get into the cab at the rear wall.

I plan to mount the radio body in the storage box behind the rear seat, then run the remote head up to the center console.

Any help on easy ways to get into the cab at the rear would be appreciated. Hate drilling holes in new metal but I will if I have to.

    73,

    Bill

This is what I did to get my coax cable in to the cab and keep it all water tight.

Take out the plastic behind the seats.

Here is the grommet that I am going to use.

I pulled out the grommet and used a sharp tool to poke a hole into it.

I shoved my needle nose pliers through the hole.

And grabbed a hold of the wire.

Slide the grommet over the wire.

Finally put the grommet back into the hole.

Its water tight and you don't have to drill any holes in your truck.

Thanks for your quick reply and pics Derek. How hard was it to remove the "plastic" from the rear wall? ...I see you are back to the bare metal...

Also, it appears yours in passenger side. Is there another on the drivers side? I would like to enter there...

Pretty easy to remove. A few screws and a few clips.

There are rubber plugs on both sides of the cab and on the floor. There are many all over the cab.

Dont worry, that switch makes us all happy... i got rid of my 01 2500hd 4x4 last year for my 2013 taco.... soooooooo much happier.

That stated, how many amps does the radio draw? do you need a direct from the battery line? Because there are a few always hot lines already inside the cab at the fuse panel you could pull off of with say an add a circuit.

Yaesu FTM-10R. I had it sitting in a box so I thought I would stick it in the truck. It draws 8.5 amps on high power, so I thought I would come straight off the battery.

Yeah OK that's a good amount. Should be pretty easy to run a cable from the bat and back in the cab.
