Another stupid question from a new 2020 Taco owner........I have gone thru the owners manual and it didn't offer much help (similar to finding out my truck has a remote start, didn't see that anywhere either). Maybe it's age taking it's toll on the ol brain, but would appreciate some help on this, please.

There is a capped off plug on the lower front dash, close to the passenger seat, that is marked 12V/40W. It looks like a cigarette lighter. I've plugged a cell phone car charger (fast charger type) into it, and nothing happens. I pushed the wireless cell phone charger switch hoping maybe it also activated this plug in, and again, nothing. My question is; what am I doing wrong or what is this thing for????????

Thanks in advance for any help you can lend................

It only works with ignition/acc on, or truck running. Charging pad is flat area on front of counsel. FYI- a lot of phone cases hamper wireless charging of phones.

Could be a blown fuse, mine works with the key turned or engine running, it shuts off when you turn off the car. Past cars I've had left the "cigarette plug" active for a short while after shutoff, the tacoma seems to turn it off immediately. Check your fuse box for a blown fuse, that's probably it if you know the charger(s) you're using work elsewhere.
