How exactly did you do this? My 2014 won't let me lock the keys in it. The sequence of events is hard to pull off. If the keys are in the truck and the doors are closed you can't lock it, obviously. If the door is open, it doesn't lock with the door buttons. You actually need to be outside of the car with the keys in your hand and the doors closed to lock it. At least it's like that on my truck anyway. I used to always lock my keys in with other vehicles but not once since I got this truck 3 years ago. Anyway, just curious.

I have the dummy key stashed in the back of the truck. It won't start it, but it will let me in.

They can be on the seat and lock the door, then close it.

This reminds me that I need to stash my plain non-transponder key I had cut for the Tundra.

I always have my main set of keys on my belt, and a single key on a separate ring for the ignition. Less weight to wear out the switch...

What do you mean? It's not proximity based logic for when the door lock button works and when it doesn't. Position of the key isn't relevant. Clearly he did it somehow. Or he just needed a good excuse to drink.

Had the keys in hand. Pressed the door lock. Had something in the seat I wanted to take. Phone rang. Tried to answer phone and laid keys in seat, picked up item closed door. Swore profusely.

Not the same situation, but Everytime I leave my truck with the engine running, I always fear accidently locking myself out so I end up rolling down the driver window ( like if I forget so,thing in the house and need to run in real quick.)

No dice boys. Apparently I had a set of spare keys from my last truck because that's what my driver brought. Tried the hitting window trick too. Looks like its triple a

if you have a spare key FOB you can have someone call you and press the button since it uses radio waves you can unlock the truck.

This that and the other thing.
I use to lock my keys in my work van all the time, lucky for me the lock on the back door I could open with just about anything lol just stick something in and twist. so I made a long piece of copper with a bend at the end and kept that in the back to reach through the divider and unlock the door. ive even locked myself in the back of the old van, no way out haha no handles inside, had to call the customer to get him to open the door :anonymous: New van now, cant lock the door while its open, it unlocks automatically if you do and well, to lock it with the door shut u need the key haha so no more issues.

Good luck with getting into your truck, never fun, hopefully it wont be much longer.
