Stock truck with no mods, less than 2k miles when I took the trip. Up and down some foothills(in Mississippi and Louisiana) but nothing serious. Did about 75 on the trip. Truck constantly dropping down to 4th to resume speed when I had to pass someone on the 4 lane. Is this normal for that speed? Just seems like terrible mpg. Going to take another trip soon and see how it does. Not very happy at the moment. Would the OVTune fix this by chance? Stock 2018 TRDOR DCLB.

PS, if anyone told me that quicksand color had the worst mpg I'd have gone with white.

Our trucks aren't very aerodynamic. At 75 is where I start seeing a big drop in mpg too. I'd say make the next trip at 70 and see if there's a noticeable difference.

Noted, but 14? I'll be honest, at 14mpg doing 70-75 I'd have bought something else. I'm not sure what, but I would have.

the sweet spot for fuel consumption on pretty much any vehicle is 95-105kph or 60-65mph, from what I have found with all my vehicles in mountain, hilly terrain. If your driving around int he prairies, that is actually when I get the worst consumption especially heading wes straight into the wind. I'm currently down in Utah on my way back to Death Valley and I am getting the best fuel consumption I have seen in provably a year with the truck (16.5-17mpg) I am ecstatic to say the least. Just cruising along at 65mph, sure I am getting passed a lot and not making the time i use to at 80mph, but I am enjoying the drive and time away from a stressful job.

Yes, 14 is bad. My 2013 gets 14 in the city, and I have armor and 33s. But, as aaen said above, even a slight headwind will kill mpg. Make some more runs and report back.

Also, looks like its still a new truck? Break in will yield better mpg.

I'm getting better in the city. Getting about 17ish average in the city.

I just did 100 Miles of Highway between 65 - 80 and averaged 20MPGs but mine is a Manual and stayed in 6th gear.

You used cruise control didn't you OP...
Cruise sucks and 75 is too fast for mileage runs.

Try it again about 5 mph slower, and not using CC. I bet it goes up 4 MPG. Easy.

Yeah. Sorry, but CC sucks on these trucks. I make about a 250 mile round trip on most weekends and CC causes my mileage to drop a good 2-5 mpg's per trip vs. just driving. My truck has the latest update so I think its just the way it is with the autos. That being said, if I do it the old school way and use moderate to normal throttle inputs, my truck stays in OD (5th &6th) 99.9% of the time. There is one big hill where it drops to 4th, but that's to be expected on a big hill. You can also try S5, but I prefer to just drive my truck as opposed to figuring out how to make it work like I think it should.

Fair enough. I may Try the OVTune and see if it helps. Not sure if it will or not. May need to make another thread asking for input from users.

Lots of good things about the tune, but for $800, i'd try it without CC first.
Hopefully it works out for you, CC is about the last issue I have with my truck. Due to the gearing, i'm not sure anything can really be done about it though. I believe 5th in the autos is still taller than 6th on the manuals.

I'm stock with a rack and tonneau and I don't do anything over 75. Only highways near me you can do that speed are up huge ass hills and 14mpg would be a dream.

The truck starts to hit a wall at 70-75 where the aerodynamics are fighting the engine. I have OVTune and it helps the gear jumping around a shit ton. If i stay at around 65-70mph I can get around 19mpg. Latest version is 100% upgrade over stock. I have a buddy who's retired who got a 2017 after I did and he was pissed off and about to trade his in for a manual. I licensed his truck through Mat from OVtune and flashed and he's ecstatic. He said it was the best money he ever spent on his truck.

Here's a pic of my short trip this afternoon between 55-65 mph over some slight hills. I never saw mileage like this before i tuned. IMG_20180421_145920.jpg

Does that mean you used their licensing info but you didn't get the software? Because that's what I want to do but I wasn't sure who to contact. The whole kit isn't available right now and I really want to be able to do this tune.

I did about a 300 mile road trip, weighed down with camping gear in the back and bed, small lift and tiny bit larger tires and got about 16ish doing 75-85. 14 seems pretty low for being all stock.
    My 2 cents.

Seems REAL low. That's why I made a thread about it. LOL trying to come up with some answers or wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

No troll here, but it's a truck, bruh.

Might a suggest a minivan? (Seriously...I love ours)

Mind you, it does seem low to me...

Let's see....I know! You had the windows down, but forgot to use the dumbest button ever
    20180421_225750.jpg
to open your tiny electric sliding glass rear window, thus causing a "balloon effect", complete with doppler noise buffeting and resultant mileage that is extra...shitty?
