At least you get to choose your topics lol
Composition was probably the worst classes i ever had to do, i hate writing stuff

I really debating doing mech engineering for the same reason, but i decided the potential money would be worth it. Calc 1 and 2 do make me question my decision though

Yeah they can make good money but I'd hate a desk job. With the union you get paid while you learn and when your done with the program you have no debt from paying for classes.

I like working on small engines and stuff along with figuring out how things work. I actually created a thread about small engines and such on here. But the thought of debt and maybe not finding a place I enjoy working at kinda gave me cold feet.

Here's the thread if you wanna see one of my projects...

Same debate I had. I don't love the idea of a desk job but I know that I wouldn't do well being on my feet all the time. Hopefully I can find something with a little bit of in between. I also love doing small engine stuff, I really want to get into building go karts and such

Get used to writing. It will never go away.

And Calc 1/2 aren’t that bad. It’s the professor’s that make it tough. Use the online resources available. At a basic level you are learning derivatives, doing it the long way by hand, questioning life and when this will ever be useful, then learning integration, aka the anti-derivative.

If you make it through Calc 1/2, consider a math minor. Calc 3 is kind of fun in a nerdy way. Basically re-learn Calc 1/2 in 3 dimensions.

Totally agree about the professors being the big difficult. This semester I'm planning to use youtube a lot more, i did that towards the end of last semester and it helped me a lot. Writing is definitely not something I like but I can at least do it when necessary :)

Seriously, try to embrace writing. And professional skills. You wouldn’t believe the résumé’s I’ve seen from recent grads. I’m not that old, but it seems that recent grads lack skills that they really shouldn’t. Learn those skills and you will stick out.

I am an automation engineer and I would say its a 50/50 split between desk work and other work. Most of what I do is R&D for robotic cells to make the electrical gismos my company sells.

College debt does blow, but there are ways to make it work. Never go to an expensive private school though

This is so true. Especially as someone who works in the communications/media industry. I do write ups for video stories that post online and have done TV news scripts in the past too. Write in a way that tells a story, as in a conversation. Clean and short. One thought per sentence, no 'fluff' language, and don't make the viewer read more than necessary. You want them to watch the story too, not just read the info. My 2 cents for what it's worth.

All fun and games until the assignment is a page count lol. Fluff is necessary, and its my professor's problem that she has to read it all, instead of just letting me put what I want to.

I will try my best, thank you for the advice :)
    I will be sure to!

I'm doing as much as I can thru a community college, just doing that has saved me thousands because of the easy to get scholarship money. When I transfer to a university my bill will probably be quite a big bigger, but at least I can be saving money up for when that time comes. I hope to not have to go into debt, but I'll just have to wait and see
