The paint is one thing, but the cigarette smell is a hard no for me. Pretty sure mine was smoked in at one point, but all I ever smell from it is remnants of Black Ice

So much money for a 9 year old truck. For that money, I think you’d be better off spending more for a newer one (if you can swing it), or driving an older beater for a year or two while you save up money for a nice truck.

$22k for a 9 year old truck with 141k miles is nuts.

 

I know it's a good amount but maybe we could negotiate the price down a bit (not very likely). I need a good truck (not a beater) that can tow my trailer well, safely and just all around reliable. Plus we take my truck places as a family and mom wouldnt get in my truck if it were a piece of junk. I can't go any newer as they're way out of my budget. This is the top end of my budget. I know that if I got it it would hold its value.

Definitely expensive. It’s Carmax. But 40k less miles, year newer. Try to find something like that private party, should be around the price of the red one?

 

Yeah I like that one and looks good but the red one is already pushing my budget and that silver one is pretty much undoable.

 

That's what I paid for my 2015 in 2021. Mine had 110,000 on it at the time. That was at the height of covid though.

 

Personally I don’t think the value is there currently for most used Tacoma’s. They were always expensive, COVID made it even worse.

I think you spend <$10k for the nicest higher mileage first gen you can find, put some time/money into it. Or buy new. Which many cannot do. $25k for a 8 year old truck that MSRP’d at maybe $30k is just stupid.

There are other brands. Can look at used V8 F150’s if towing is a concern. Frontier for a solid old school truck. Those Xterra’s are also a nice 4Runner alternative.

 

Honestly, I agree. I just needed something completely reliable, and new was way too much. My dad didn't want me to get a 1st gen, which was my plan, because they were all too expensive for the miles. I'm hoping to keep this truck for a very long time, so I think it was a good investment.

I find it hard to wrap my head around the current prices. if you look at the 3rd gens for sale on here, you’ll see that they aren’t selling like the hot cakes they were a year ago. Same with carsandbids and the like. We’re seeing a dip in the market, but sellers are not budging on prices. It’s weird. But I really don’t think spending $24k on a well used 2nd gen is a smart buy at this point.

Plus I have a 30" push mower that weights 150lbs (cant lift it) that I have to transport once a week in the summer...

 

Yeah I saw that one and forgot about that one. Maybe just buy some nice seat covers and call it good. Floors could use some cleaning. The fuel doors gone though so that's a downside. Just wonder what that frame is like.
