hey guys. so my tacoma is all back together. im able to run and drive it! i have one question. i currently have 3 15 inch rims and 1 16 inch rim on wy truck because when my buddy rolled it, he bent a rim. im looking for a stock 15 inch rim. i keep seeing everywhere that 15 inch rims will not fit due to calipers.. except i have drum brakes on rear. i measured the distance from the drum and inner edge of 15 inch wheel and i have 1/2 inch or so. on the drivers side where i put the 16 inch wheel i have an inch of room. i want to keep the 15s because i have like new 32x11.50r15L mud tires. im looking for a 15 inch rim without offset for the passenger side rear... my other truck has 2 inch wheel spacers i could use but hate to. the 3 15 inch wheels i have is 3/4 offset. but a factory 16 inch rim fit fine with plenty of room. my question is, will a stock non offset 15 inch wheel work?
the reason i want non offset is because my axle isnt 100% aligned so its pushed to the right about 3/8 of an inch. my local body shop said they can fix that for 2 grand... i paid 300 for the truck and spent about 500 in parts... either i cut and reweld spring perch or i live with it. i only used the 16 nch wheel so i could get it inside my garage. the parts truck has 16 inch s10 wheels. 2 aluminum and 2 steel. i dont want those. ide like to keep my mud tires

I ran 15 inch enkis that I brought forward from my '92 to '04 DC. No problems with these. They were a dealer installed optional wheel installed on trucks from the Southeast and Gulf Coast dealers in the mid 90's. But 15's will not fit on trucks with Tundra brake upgrade.

Up through 2000, 6-lug Tacoma's they came with 15" rims from the factory. 2001 went to 16". As long as you're using OEM 15"'s, you should be able to put them on your truck (and if I read correctly, you've already got three 15" on there...so you can tell they fit :).

which 15" rim do you have? there are 2 versions, aluminum and steel. also assuming you have the factory 15" rims and not aftermarket?

That's because the brake calipers got bigger, starting in 2001. 2001 and later 6 lug trucks won't clear '15 rims.

they didn't change the brake calipers on the Tacoma. 15" wheels will fit fine. There are a few on here who preferred the 15" aluminum rims due to the look.

Umm, no - this is not true. Calipers on first gens are the same across 96-04. Part numbers are shared across all years:

    R: 47730-04040
    L: 47750-04040

OP even stated that he's already running 3, 15" rims. So they clearly fit. I also know several folks who have 01-04 and run 15" steel wheels, so there's definitely no problem.

That's not 100% true, don't expect to buy any 15" wheels and have them fit on a 01-04, it took me a few days and several different styles of 15 to find one that fit.

You're changing the subject. Let's not mix in semi-irrelevant information to a relatively straight forward thread.

It is 100% true that if you're running stock brakes, that they share the same part number. Therefore, any 15" that fits a 96-00 will also fit a 01-04.

That's not what i was told by a couple of the guys at four wheel parts down in Portland, but who knows if they actually know what they are talking about.

if you run a "Toyota" 15" rim you will be fine. some aftermarket 15" rims will not fit any Tacoma without spacers. but OEM is always the way to go if you can get them

Yeah. I tend to not throw too much confidence towards the guys behind the parts counter at 4WP.
Actually I'd downright refuse any "fact" they would tell me as being false. Thought if pass that on...

Btw I'm running Procomp *Wheeler's* 15" 7hole steelies on my 04. But not every aftermarket 15" wheel will fit.

thanks for the responces. i have 15 inch 3/4 offset rims. the "look" as if they would clear without the offset, i cant find any factory non offset 15s anywhere near me. i called toyota in white river junction... they want 220.00 for a new factory rim. i have 1 aluminum rim at work but i have a feeling its thicker material so it may not fit. i plan on bringing just the rim home and test fitting it. i hate to have 3 steel and 1 aluminum but i cant find any. i havent tried craigslist yet. i will keep you guys posted

These came on my truck from the factory, apparently. You can find refurb ones on wheelsandcaps.com for pretty cheap.
