At 750miles, Im getting 18mpg with mine with 80/20 city/highway driving. off the dic of course.

75-80mph on the interstate my DIC usually fluctuates in between 20-30 on depending on the incline.

TONS of threads on this and why Toyota F***ked the shifting maps on these trucks. True story.
    Best fix is here: https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/tacoma/products/toyota-tacoma-2grfks-calibration

I got the tune for my truck and with the lift, sliders, bumper, winch, etc. There is plenty of power and I avg. 17-18mpg in my 19 mile morning commute to work in the city

driver info center, the mileage calculator in entune. I also don't have an OR so that's probably a big difference.

The other thing that kills mileage is short commutes. I had a 9 mile commute for the last year, as soon as that changed to a 25mile commute, my mpg went up drastically.

well I just traded my diesel 16 Colorado with 55k miles on it last night for new trd pro. I averaged 27.7 over the 55k miles. I could get 32 on hyw sometimes more and that was at 75. If you want the truck for mileage it is a great truck. It holds gears and handles well. it isn't as peppy from start but I liked it fine. If you went to gas even the Colorado the mpg is just not much different than the half tons and never really has been. I see people all the time talk about mpg on the smaller v6 and if that is reason you are buying id get half ton every time. I want a smaller truck not the half ton and I look at the mpg as going to be about the same but I much prefer the smaller size. As far as for my 18 coming out of my Colorado so far after 100 miles with 60 being hyw at 65 to 75 it did real good and I like it a lot. I don't live in the mountains but definitely some hills and the gas Colorado was about the same. I will see how it goes with this new truck over the next few weeks and couple thousand miles. also i am not one to drink the koolaid as many say. So we will see with time.

Short drives really kill mileage. 6 miles to work for me. I’m on the road pretty early and my truck is barely warmed up 3/4 way there. I am averaging 19-20mpg on strictly work commute fill ups. And over half my commute is stop and go and light to light.

My 60mile drive to my parents nets me 20-24mpg depending on headwind. My 60 mile drive back from my parents nets me 26+ every time. About 50 of that is all i5 doing 68-70 though.

Yeah mine was netting me about 14.5-15.5 mpg with 32 Cooper STT Pros. Since gas hit 5.70/gallon here though I took em off. Now I get 17 on that commute. 22-25mpg on my longer one.

This will echo much of the conventional wisdom above, but since I live and drive in the same area here goes:

I'm six months in to my '17 OR and for the first four I was averaging 15.7 MPG stock. I don't know whether it was the weather (snow/cold), breaking in, winter gas, or a combination of the above but I'm now averaging over 17 and on a recent trip in the snow/rain/wind from northern Weber County to SLC Airport I averaged about 22 MPG. I've been up Parley's, Weber, and Ogden Canyons a number of times.

I thought the shifting on hills was a little squirrelly at first with some of the issues you have been experiencing. Over time it seems to have smoothed out a bit, but if I'm heading up a canyon with a passenger and a load I sometimes use "S" mode - that's what it's there for and it's kind of fun. I also use ECT around town and on I15.

I'm no lead foot (in a truck, anyway) but I don't drive like a granny, either. This truck provides all the power and fuel economy I would expect from a 3.5l that's attempting to bridge the gap between power and mileage.

Damn, 14.5-15.5 is worse than my lifted old 1st gen got on my work commute! When I stop and think about it I’m pretty happy with my fuel mileage. Hopefully it will improve some now that the temps should start to warm up.

Oh, I'll also add that I got 14mpg driving 80mpgs driving a stretch of highway that basically climbs the staked plains (but it looks flat).

Averaging in the winter/spring 21 to 22s right now. '17 Sport DCSB 6-MT bone ass stock. I not rip it like a a-hole city driver, but sure as hell do not baby it. Mostly driving open state NH roads - only one stop light on my commute.

I am about 1200 miles into my Pro and I am between 19.5 and 20. It really did learn my driving habits.

Short commutes especially when it's cold really affect MPG. Apparently when the engine is very cold, the gas mixture is made more rich until it warms to close to operating temperature which could take as much as 3-4 miles and maybe more if it's below zero or there abouts. On warm days, (70+) a 3.4 mile drive I take to the fitness center nets me around 21 MPG if I hit the lights just right and don't get stopped by a train. If it's below freezing that will drop to 16 - 17 or so. On the average tank full, I'll register at 20 mpg for 95% suburban driving, and will see 25-27 on a highway trips holding a very steady foot at or under 70 mph.

I had a 60 mile one way trip to work and l ended up averaging 16 mpg every time I drove to work to matter what I did. Slow, fast, mountain way, freeway it honestly went down. From my average around town driving.

I honestly dont think it is, just my opinion. We shouldnt have to fork almost a grand for something ontop of what we all paid for the trucks.
