Meh, the brakes get the job done. Mine were vibration free until I had this one job up in the hills where I was going down this steep long straight into a batch of sharp hair pin turns. I was pretty much on the brakes the entire time and by the end, I suspected I warped the rotors cause there was some very noticeable steering wheel shimmy, but it went away. Since then the shimmy has come and gone, but for the most part doesn't show up in regular driving. I had an Accord once and it didn't take much to warp the rotors on that thing. I could be in stop and go traffic and it would develop a shimmy. I also had an Odyssey that experienced the same thing. I dont know about the OP, but at least on the Tacoma, I had to really put the brakes to work until it started warp.

Also, at 75,000 miles my front brake pads were barely half worn. I don't think I have owned any vehicle that has had brake pads last this long.

I have always gotten > 100K miles from OEM Pads.

    The rotors are not warped:

    Thanks for your input.

If I wanted to dig through the magazines and ASE study materials, I could have written a lengthy article about it.

If your pads and rotors are giving these problems at that low of mileage, they're ready to replaced with some high quality parts, and be broken in properly.

The amount of effort it will take to resurface the rotor and pads, while potentially having a defective part, you could have replaced the brakes a few times over with higher than oe quality parts.

I've had my Tacoma since 2007 and have faced the fact that that the brakes just suck. I ended up replacing the rotors and pads with EBCs.

157k miles on my factory rotors, turned once, and third set of pads according to the service records. They look the age but they're not excessively worn and still don't shimmy.

Initial bedding of the pads can make a big difference, plus how often the truck is aggressively braked to a complete stop which can unevenly deposit more material on the rotors.

I putter around town in my 2015 DCSB. No two-footed driving, no quick stops at the end of an offramp decelerating from 75 to 0. I reported brake shudder around 10k and Toyota covered pads and rotors as a one-time deal. Now closer to 25k I'm dealing with the same issues again. I'm not going to bother bringing it up with the service advisor a second time - he'll approach it with the same sort of open-mindedness displayed on this thread. I do think there's a quality issue with the newest 2nd gen Tacoma brakes based on my experiences but it will take a while before there's enough critical mass for it to become an acknowledged issue, let along a TSB.

I haven't had these issues on prior vehicles nor on our 4th gen 4runner. I remain unimpressed by the Tacoma brake/rotor combo (I'm not going to take the time to figure out if it is one or the other...). I'll end up replacing the pads and rotors when I finally get fed up with it, and probably go after-market.

30k on mine been vibrating for about 7600 miles. Dealer said they would resurface for 130, the best part? Service writer said it was caused by debris cause i park outside, she should be fired . I used to drive like a maniac in my s10 and never warped those rotors. So wtf ? Cause i coast to my red lights

My truck started vibration when braking around 20K miles and I thought I had warped my rotors. Turned out the balancing weights had come off my front wheels. Had them rebalanced and that fixed the vibration.

I had the same problem as OP when I first bought my truck in '14. Took it to the dealer and they turned the rotors and put new pads. That was about at 20k. Since then, the issue comes and goes depending on my driving (road rage). I'm at 50k now and have no issues.

I got 6,100 on mine and I get a slight vibration when braking, can feel it most while decelerating from 20-0. Do you guys think this might be the culprit?

I'd be very disappointed if this were the case as I almost never brake. I leave at least 6 car lengths on the highway (I hate rocks) and downhill I just tap the brake until in downshifts. I've always driven stick so I barely ever used the big pedal.

Do you torque your wheels? Sometimes people just tighten them with an impact driver and do not check the torque.

Uneven torque will often warp discs.
