Hello everyone. This is my first post on this website, and I hope it to be a helpful one. It has been a long time since I have owned something other than a car. I have owned a Land Cruiser and a 4Runner convertible in the past, but was forced into fuel efficient car ownership for work purposes.
But I was recently able to break the shackles (literally) of boring car ownership, and purchase a truck.
I drove 4 hours to get this truck, and by the time I got it home, the check engine light was on, and the underside was covered in oil. And in the process of cleaning the frame for some POR15, I noticed the rear shackle mounts were pretty soft. Well, a couple thousand dollars later, all I need is to; fix a bad CV joint, U-joint, front brakes, and an annoying axle wrap issue. But all that can wait.
In my search for summer wheels and tires, and was shocked at the price difference between 31x10.5x15"s, and a similar sized tire in 16". In some cases it was $80 per tire. As many of you know, only certain 15" wheels will clear the front caliper on these trucks.
I took a gamble and ordered one Mickey Thompson classic III in black, 15x7. I was going to go with the 15x8, but with more negative offset, I figured it would stick out too far. Well I just ordered three more, since the first one cleared the front without modification. With 32x11.50's the tires stick out about an inch past the fender flare.
Sorry, for the long winded intro. But hopefully this info will provide others out there with an option for a 15" wheel that will fit.
Truck info: 2003 double cab, V6, SR5 TRD, w/ ABS.

I would be pissed if someone sold me a truck like that without disclosing because he had to know all that stuff was bad. As far as wheels I would go with the 16's because you will have a limited selection in a 15 tire. Tire manufacturers just dont make many in that size.

Welcome to TW! Got any pics of the wheels on? I've got 15x14 rims and really really love the look of wide rims but i've gotta replace the wheel bearings and hub often so im looking into news wheels that dont put to much pressure on the bearings and hub but still stick out enough to look stocky, if you know what i mean.. would love to see your setup...

I don't know where you live, but there are TONS of options for tires to fit 15" wheels.

I have never considered that I would be limited on tire selection for 15" wheels.
Everything that I have been interested in has been available in 32x11.5x15.
My brother had an extra set of kumho road venture MT's on his FJ40, that he sold to me pretty cheap. Not the tires I would have chosen to buy new, but considering the price, it was a no-brainer.
As they say on the pellet stove forum I am on, "Without pictures, it didn't happen."
I am putting the tires and wheels on tomorrow, and I will definitely post some pictures.

hearth.com/talk. Great place for anyone with any type of stove/insert. (Wood, pellet, gas, coal.) Very helpful people.
And they really seem to like beer. Nothing wrong with that.
